The Most Important thing to me in my journey is...

Recommended Posts

For the first time in my life I actually believe that I am capable of any goal I set for myself.

I have put my body through countless WLS complications and death twice.

This time, I have no clue when or how it happened, but my VSG decision was the trigger. I started pre decision very depressed, but by the time I made the decision to get sleeved I knew this was my turning point. Never have I given myself the option of failure.

Who knows where the path will take me. I know for sure that my life is already changed and I can't contain the excitement I have for today and the future. It's a whole new world of opportunities that I never considered possible! It's amazing what a healthy, happy body and mind can do for ones life. Its absolutely beautiful!

Never have I given myself the option of failure.

I love this. It reinforces the notion that our choices are powerful, and that the choice to be successful can be as simple as choosing not to fail.

Even when I make bad choices on this journey, I never see it as failure, quite the opposite. I see it as all part of the journey, all part of what I am learning.

Thank you for responding to this post, cause I needed this. I'm having some personal issues that's making it rough on me emotionally & I'm fighting to not fall into depression AGAIN...Failure is not an option for me either. I refuse to give up this time. I'm glad you mentioned the possibilities & things that await in the future, cause that made me smile. I need to stay focused on the things that are coming in my life for my good, cause right now...it's rough looking at my present reality.

I totally agree with you. Everything I experience, good/bad, etc is all just part of my journey. I will ride the waves until I reach my shore. I won't beat myself up or give up. Great point!

With life there is opportunity.

Last year I gained 20+ pounds (after getting SOOO close to goal) ... luckily I saw the/made opportunity in my life sooner than later, and am getting it back off. Was I a failure? I learned some valuable lessons, so no, I don't think so. If you wander off into a ditch at some time, don't forget to look for treasure, you just might find it! Then get out of that ditch!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
