Who can eat everything?

Recommended Posts

Pasta, bread, and popcorn were not good for about the 1st 3 to 6 months, but, i'm a year out now, and can tolerate anything as long as it's chewed well.

still love my spicy food!

Five months out. The only two things I have tried that I did not tolerate was untoasted bread and apple skin. Both were at about three months out, and I have not tried them since. Toasted bread was fine, pizza crust was fine, etc.

I have very little craving for carbs, so I haven't been in a rush to try again. I have since peeled apples and had no problems.

I have zero problems with food and could eat anything. But I can't tolerate any carbonated drinks.....so I stay away from them.

I've never had a problem getting any type of food after surgery and it sucks. lol I totally wish my body hated carbs and sugary things but nope. They were a danger before surgery and they totally are now as well.

Me too! Ugh!

I'm 9 months out and can eat anything. I don't eat bread as a tiny bit seems to get hung up. I have developed heart burn since surgery. Something I had never in my 38 of living had experienced. That sucks but I'm learning what foods to avoid so I don't get it.

Scheduled for surgery June 18th. I'm curious to know if once everything is healed and you are comfortable with the sleeve are there any foods that you cannot eat. Even if you choose nit to eat something could you eat if you chose?

I am so glad you asked this question and even happier about the answers posted! I am scheduled for the 19th and this thought has really been bothering me, but feel reassured now! The next worry is how to keep busy for the first couple of weeks as I get bored really quick. Any ideas appreciated!

I told my husband that this is the BEST diet plan because you can look forward to adding foods rather than taking them away. :-)

I'm six weeks out tomorrow. With the go ahead from my nutritionist I started incorporating EVERYTHING last week except big chunks of meat like steak and raw"tough" veggies. I can "unfortunately" eat everything and feel no ill effects. I can eat quite a bit too :'( I haven't tried to push it and eat as much as I can or anything though I suspect I could eat as much as anyone that has not been sleeved. I'm starting to wonder if my surgeon left too much of my stomach!

I'm 6 months out and haven't tried Pasta or rice so not sure about those. bread doesn't work...a few bites and my sleeve is rolling. I can eat steak but it sits very heavy so I don't eat it very often. Everything else seems to go okay. ;-)

I can eat anything. But' date=' my sleeve always stops me from overdoing it. I am 7 months out.[/quote']

I'm glad u said that about the sleeve restricting u bc that's one of my fears...ive read so much here n there about people regaining but this is a tool of restriction, so how can a person regain if they literally are forced not too? Do I need to do more research, bc I'd hate going threw this thinking that this tool will not help me, if I make a wrong choice...I hope I'm making sense:/ I have the surgery seminar in the morning, guess I can ask the surgeon then. Was just curious since u guys are dealing w it now. Thx:)

I'm only 3 weeks and 2 days post op and can eat anything. All things taste great including steak, chicken, seafood, etc. I'm still very conscious to chew everything carefully

Oldskool. Don't worry. I thought that too and my surgeon showed me my pictures. My stomach is tiny. The best thing you can do it use an app called my fitness pal and keep up with what you eat. Keep your calories between 400 and 800. Drink Water a lot so you don't get so hungry. Your sleeve will work.

I have tolerated everything accept really cheesy dishes at 7 weeks out. I am on soft foods now. I don't do Pasta or bread...but I had my first glass of wine at a dinner and could only drink a few sips cause I needed to eat my Protein. Had some bourbon last night....mistake cause I woke up feeling awful and dehydrated. So no more alcohol for me til I am a few more months out.

Here is an update to my no restriction issue. I am now six and a half weeks post-op. I had gone out to eat once at six weeks and had a birthday dinner to attend at my favorite restaurant yesterday! I felt like I was ready and mentally prepared and the previous time I went out to eat for the first time it was fabulous :-)

So yesterday dinner was at a Korean bbq place so much of the meal is communal. When we got there and ordered I started off carefully assessing each bite and laboriously chewing etc. At some point in the middle of dinner I noticed my Water glass in my hand and saw 1/3 was gone..uh oh! Secondly I started to feel a pressure for the first time in the middle of my chest. I waited a while and continued with my meal especially since the yummiest dish had just come out! A little voice warned me not to take the bite. I didn't listen. Three bites later I was in the bathroom. I puked. It was only a little and it actually helped because simultaneously I felt pain in my throat/chest area that I've been reading about in this forum.

The pain was very uncomfortable. I had to burp but couldn't and felt if I pushed to try I would vomit. It lasted for about two hours. I came home, took a shower and went to bed early. I feel fine today albeit tired and a little freaked since I have not lost a pound in four weeks (but not gained any either).

On the up side, I finally know I do have restriction through the sleeve though I must have a sleeve on the largish side! I also think the variety of food played a factor in my getting sick. I learned an important lesson or two last night and wanted to share :-)

Thx for listening and any advice or feedback is appreciated :-)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
