Wendys salad (berry)

Recommended Posts

On the salads that I make at home I use spinach instead of lettuce to get a bit more nutrition into it. Tolerance for these things is a big variable between people - I was starting to play with my little spinach/veg/meat salads at about a month out and did try an occasional bite of lettuce from my wife's salad when we would eat out. Others may have problem with lettuce (or other foods) for many months before they can tolerate them.

I never had much of a problem with red meat during this process, though my wife did have problems with ground beef for a while when she went through this a few years ago. The surgeon suggested that patients often tolerate filet better than ground beef (one of the best "prescriptions" that we have ever gotten from a doc!)

OMGosh, I **LOVE** spinach! I just forget to use that instead of romaine but thanks for the reminder!

Totally agree with you on the "best prescription ever" from a doctor letting you know that filet would be better. Unfortunately, we can't afford it! LOL!

Fiddleman: what is sliming?

Sliming is when you eat too much or too fast and you literally slime in your mouth with a thick mucous saliva. Kind of gross and uncomfortable. Not everyone experiences it, but when you do, you will know. I lost count of my own sliming it happened so often. I did not have trouble with eating too much, but often ate too fast especially during month 2 and 6. It is not a problem any longer nor has it really been a problem since month 5.

axd' date=' how much salad can you handle for a meal? do you make them yourself or buy them ready-made?[/quote']

I buy it from a pizza place down the street from work. The make the best grilled ckn salads. It lasts me 3 days but on the 3rd day I usually chuck it. I would guess about a little over a cup. Some times around 3 ill pick at the chicken or the next day when I get to work and get hungry ill pick. I'm not big on Breakfast

I pretty much try anything and see what I can handle. I stay away from bread and rice. Last night hubs got a pizza and I just ate the topping. Didn't feel 100% after eating it but it was low carbs and stayed down. I follow low carbs and when it's low carb and low calorie it's a bonus. 32 lbs down since pre surgery diet

fiddleman' date=' remind me...about when can I try eating a salad with lettuce? I am one-month out today and am still a little scared to try raw veggies of any type[/quote']

I started eating salads as soon as I was cleared for regular foods at about 8-10 weeks. I started slow with soft lettuce like butter lettuce. I was fine. As the adage goes, everyone is different.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
