My surgery will be in July with Dr. Nagel. How was your hospital stay and how are you doing now?

I just want to say that I absolutely **LOVE** Petoskey! I live in South Eastern MI, in a Detroit suburb & I absolutely HATE HATE HATE it here, but we will have to live here for now. Petoskey is a gorgeous area & if I lived there, I would feel like I was on vacation everyday! I know that had absolutely nothing to do with being sleeved, haha.....but I just had to speak my peace!

So glad you were pleased with your surgeon & surgery! (There, I added a "sleeve" piece to my message!) ;)

My hospital stay was good. I only had to stay the one night. You get a morphine pump for pain the first day, so you can sleep away most of it! The nurses were absolutely wonderful! I had minimal pain, and a very easy recovery. Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks. Once I started on soft foods (2weeks) I started to get sick. I can't handle lactose now. Its a possible side effect from surgery. It can be temporary or permenant. I am struggling to stick to the food/drinks I am allowed , not having lactose, and gettig my Protein in. I would still do it again! I'm down 35lbs. :) Are u having surgery in Petoskey? I'd be happy to answer any more questions. :)

Another Michigander reporting in. Glad your experience has been good. I was sleeved at Henry Ford in Detroit in March and I have to boast that my experience has been excellent as well. Never had pain or nausea. I am down 61 lbs since my first consultation in late Nov and 44 since surgery. Made it to One-derland last week!

How is everyone doing? I'm still waiting for a surgery date and getting frustrated. I'm thinking of switching doctors. Has anyone had surgery at Munson Medical Center?

I'm doing great! Down 55lbs. :) i'd suggest you be the squeaky wheel. To both offices!! They scheduled my surgery and forgot to call me. I called and asked after waiting a week and they thought someone called me. Doh!

I tried to have surgery thru Munson back in 2009. I got all the way to scheduling surgery before they said ins wouldnt pay. (Even the appts so far- i had to pay 100%!!!!!) For that reason I would avoid them. McLaren checks into it before you start. I also like Mclarens process better. No way I would have been prepared or successful through Munson. I was devistated but now I am so greatful. Everything happens for a reason!

Good luck, and be that squeaky wheel!

I started this process last September, had everything done be December and still waiting. They kept screwing up the paperwork when they sent it in for approval. Now my ins has changed, they don' t return my calls, I sent an email to the office manager and didn't get a response. I' m fed up with them. If they don' t want my business I can take it elsewhere.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
