Does your sleeve have a name?

Recommended Posts

Noticed some people's Sleeves have names.... Does yours and does it help to name them?

I gave my arthritis a name - Arthur - and it did help when it was bad to be able to complain to him personally :-)))))

I'm still pre-op, so mine is only a sleeve-to-be. Maybe kind of like a "fiancé" (as in "future spouse") mine is a "sleevé"--pronounced "sleeve-ay"!

:D

I named my sleeved stomach "Fred". Some days Fred has an attitude.

This thread reminds me of a friend of mine who named her GPS system's voice "Horace Vandergelder", after the cranky character from "Hello, Dolly". I think I might use that as a sleeve name, and talk to it with Barbra Streisand's voice.

"Why, Horace Vandergelder, as I live and breathe--how well you look!"

...Sorry, my musical theater geek is showing. *tucks it back in*

Funny! I named my GPS unit Beatrice. No name for my sleeve though.

You mean you haven't heard of "Sleevie Wonder" or "Sleevie Nicks" around the forums? ;)

Shortdog, it's a girl thing. On that note, I haven't been sleeved yet but will probably name mine after I meet him or her... Gotta see if she is a cranky wench or laid back and easy to live with.

I didn't name my sleeve but I named the part of the stomach that they cut out.

I called him "fat bastard" and kicked him to the curb....

LOL!! Oh the imagery!!

I decided not to name my sleeve because it is a permanent part of my body, not some foreign visitor. I did name my Lapband. Her name was Sybil because she had multiple personalities. I'm very happy that Sybil is long gone and I no longer have a foreign bject in my body that needs constant babysitting!

I called mine "the food police " but not in the past month or so. I know when to stop eating now and I don't need "the food police" to write me any more tickets.

Thank you all for your thoughts, need to think if mine will have a name or be left in peace.

Laura, I laughed out loud at the "fat bastard", fantastic!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
