day 3 of pre-op liquid diet- Ug! *seattle

Recommended Posts

I am finding the evenings really hard. I had two olives last night "just because". Otherwise, I don't think I have lost even a pound. My body knows i am starving it and it's holding all the weight it can. Can anyone tell me how their weight loss went pre-op?

Also- I saw that some people had to be re-banded. Anyone understand why it "breaks down"?

fruit has "sugar" and even apple sauce is a soft food so it's no to both. It's all liquid, no sugar, no fizz, no caffeine,... for ten days pre-op and then four weeks post-op. After that it's the soft foods. I had to drink the barium stuff for my upper GI test today and i asked about the calories- very few BTW, but sugar to flavor it. I'm calling that meal #1 today.

So, like 38 days on a total liquid diet? Is that right? I have not heard others describe anything close to that. Am I missing something?

I an a Mexican Bandster and I was told to go on a low carb diet pre op to shrink my liver which they have to move out of the way to get to the stomach. Well since I was paying out of my pocket and I scheduled my surgery in less than a week, I did NO pre op diet. In fact I told my doctor this when I went for the surgery and he said tomight is your last meal eat what you want. I did and I was also told no smoking well I smoked about an hour before surgery and about 18 hours after surgery. This was my surgery and I was paying for it.

I hear a lot of people complaining about a pre op diet of liquids, that would suck. Maybe it shows insurance or doctors dedication, I don't know but I am glad I didnt have to go there.

I would encourage the best you can do, be hydrated, and yes your liver does need to loose all the excess it can because all the surgery is done underneath it. I has to be held out of the way to do the banding. Every little thing helps. As far as liquids, I onlyneeded to do two days before I could have mushies.

The surgeryl causes your stomach and stoma to swell and liquids are easy on it, you dont want to agrivate that area. It will be worth all of it truly.

Im down 60 lbs now and cante even begin to discribe how great I feel.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
