Cooking post op for family

Recommended Posts

I was talking to my hubby about what to expect immediately after post op.....its just the 2 of us.....I told him the first week or two post op he'd be on his own for meals, while I was on Clear liquids. He thought I was joking.

He's a wonderful guy, but nurturing (or cooking) doesn't come easily for him. ;) As long as he knows what to expect ahead of time, he's fine....I figure with planning I could have some meals in the freezer for him to nuke......I can't imagine cooking while being sore and on Clear Liquids.

How did you handle meals for your significant other/family immediately post-op?

Thanks!

I am now 6 days out and have been cooking since about 3 days out. My fiance doesnt ask me to and he says he feels bad but he works 2nd shift so by the time he comes home it is late. I dont feel hungry so it doesnt bother me...its kind of like a routine at this point.

Yeah, i had the same discussion with my hubby prior to surgery and we just went to the grocery store before hand and he stocked up on sandwich fixins' and easy stuff for him to make when he gets home from work. Now the laundry getting done, that's a whole other story lol.

I worry about this too because I'm the cook (hubby learned how to toast bread in a regular toaster a little more than a year ago ~ seriously) & I have 2 kids too that are used to a meat/starch/veggie every night! EEK! My husband says the first few days post-op, he'll just take the kids for subway or pick up chinese or taco bell. While I hate them eating junk, I don't think I'll mind just being a few days post-op!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
