So I had a dream that I was sleeved, and 20 min after I ate a piece of chicken! Obviously I know better then this, but I'm so afraid of absent mindedly putting something in my mouth like when I make my husbands lunch for work or getting my kids a snack. My surgery is now weeks away and I'm so nervous! I'm just so used to taking a piece of this, or that, and I hope I can get myself to pay attention all the time!

Sorry for my little early morning rant lol. The dream really freaked me out!

I'm exactly the same... I don't even think about it and before you know it, I've already swallowed it! I'm hoping that changes after my surgery too. My op is on 2nd July, yours?

Chew gum or suck on a mint. Seriously. It's so easy to slip into those mindless habits. I caught myself stuffing a chip in my mouth packing the cooler for the pool and I have always tracked everything because of my perpetual WWs habit. (I wonder how much I missed tracking because of blind habit?)

I spit it out, got a Listerine breath strip (GAG O RAMA!!!) and went on about my lunch making. Now I keep a pack on the fridge to grab whenever I am cooking.

And yes, I chew gum AND drink through a straw, being the rebel that I am.

Dreams just allow us to process stuff... I've recently drempt of a bagel. Go figure. But you'll be post surgery and you'll know about your stomach 24/7 for a few weeks at least. Gum and Straws, Lipstick, you ARE a rebel!

Sometime in July. I go to the surgeon on June 3rd to get my date and packet with the diets and stuff!

At 1 week out a friend came to visit. I made her some guacamole and without thinking tasted it for spice adjustment. Thank goodness I realized it and spit it out.

I will try the listening trick.

I am two weeks out. Made a cake when I was at home visiting family and licked the spatula without even thinking. I thought I had killed these bad habits. Now I am being even more vigilant in my day to day behavior.

I think I missed something along the way. I am 7 months out and didn't know that you can't taste test you recipes or chew gum. I don't chew gum anyway but if I did I definitely wouldn't swallow it because when I was a kid my Mum told me that if you swallow gum you blow bubbles out your arse when you fart and it sticks your panties to you.

You cant taste test if you are not to that stage yet..she had tasted guacamole when she was probably still on liquids. And most drs say not to chew gum because if you do swallow it which most adults consciencely know not too it can cause a mess in your stomach

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
