Post-Op Grocery List

Recommended Posts

I am making a grocery shopping list to prepare for the post-op diet. I don't want to get burned out on the same three foods and end up eating something I shouldn't. Can you all share what your typical post-op shopping list looks like?

Also, I like to juice fresh veggies and fruits and it usually ends up being a little pulpy. Would that be considered appropriate for stage two liquids? If the pulp was strained could it be the stage one Clear Liquids?

Thanks!!

Hi, i am new here as of last night. I have a meeting on June 13th about the surgery, so I hopefully will be joining the ranks soon. I am not sure just what you should do according to who or where you got your surgery done, but i did find this link on the net. Maybe you can view it and c what helps, if at all. Good luck!! http://www.murfsurg.com/dietary_guidelines_sleeve_gastrectomy.htm

Every dr is different. During the two weeks post op my dr only lets me have Clear Liquids plus a I can choose from a preapproved list of Protein Shakes to have 2oz 3x per day. fruit he told me is a no no for quite a few months because of the sugar. I can start canned vegetables or regular (as long as they are soft) veggies the third week if they are cut up tiny. So all I bought were shakes, Vitamins and some non caloric liquids like Powerade zero and crystal light.

My surgeon allows v8 juice, so I would think if you strained the pulp it would be okay, but of course you would want to check with your doc

I just wanted to say that yes everybody's diet can be different, but I think this is a great link for the many people around here that get any guidelines I am hoping to remember it when the next person asks :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
