I'm back to my old eating habits ;-(

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was sleeved 12-11-12 it's sad to say but I'm back at my old eating habits. My start weight was 296 , my current weight is 248. I started by trying a little bit of this and that I still eat small portions but eating wrong foods. I'm 5 months post op is it to late for me to start over again? Do you think my sleeve was a waste of time? Help me ;-(

It sounds like you know what the issue is. You just need to get back on track. Its never to late to make that change back. You may be past the honeymoon stage where its hard to eat some of those old things and now you have to fall back more on will power but you can do it. Go back and see your nutritionist, throw out all the garbage food in your house (like right now! ;-) ) do anything you can to regain that mindset you were in when you first started the process. Recognizing the issue is the first step, you did that, now you just need to act on it! Best luck to you!

It's not too late to start over again but first you need to work on why you reverted to your old eating habits or you'll find yourself in a vicious cycle of lose and gain just like before your surgery. I am 4 months post-op. I pray I don't ever begin to sample my old favorites again. Right now the thought of my prior favorites make me nauseated. I pray it stays that way.

I'm not sleeved (scheduled 6/19), but it seems like it still very early in the process. Your stomach is stil very small and you need to have only quality foods go into it.

Of course, if you continue on this path, yes - the sleeve was a waste of time. You don't want to look back 2 years from now and be the same weight - you want to look back in 2 years and be like "yeah, it was tough. But I made it and I'm healthy now".

Good luck. I know you can do it! :)

Thanks for the advice its so hard just don't know how I got back here again and then I have my mom and my friends telling by surgery was a waste of time :-/ I did start going to a nutritionist but she really doesn't give me like any good tips basically all she does is weight me on this scale that says how much have I gained or lost on Water weight and fat weight and then asks me what did I eat, she doesn't really help so I guess I'll be looking for a new nutritionist soon thanks for ur help ;-)

don't be so hard on yourself..but instead remember why you did your sleeve. Be honest with yourself. Are you walking each day, exercising? We know the sleeve is only a tool to get us on the road to a healthy weight and lifestyle. Respect your self ...think when you go to eat "is this worth eatting" Maybe you need to find other hobbies you enjoy that keep you busy and content. Think " am I really hungry" make sure your getting your protien and Water each day.I know you can do it...forget about these last few days ... your still 50lbs lighter and YOU CAN get to and stay at your goal! You deserve it :) have a great, healthy eatting, productive day...even if you take ot one day at a ti,e

If it was me:

  1. Stop calling it a 'sweet tooth'. It makes it sound cute and makes it sound ok. Example: my wife keeps her car messy and she says "Oh, I live out of my car!" No she doesn't. She commutes 15 minutes a day. As for the sweets, what's worked for me when I was on Atkins was sugar free hard candies (chocolate, butterscotch, etc). Do NOT go for the straight-up Sugar Free Chocolate. It's fatty and high in calories.
  2. Only talk to positive people about your journey.
  3. Relax. You shouldn't be hard on yourself. You can do this.

Well...Chickie....time to put those voices of negativitly on the back burner.....Time to utilize the tool that you worked hard to get.....now that you can eat "real" food again....you have to get back to the basics...Remember to eat your lean Proteins 1st and you might want to get back to if you are not already and start journally what you eat...make sure you are getting your Water in and some Protein Shakes to help with your cravings...Hopefully this helps a bit...We all know it is hard but in the long run you will be so much happier...dont surrender be a survivor!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
