Pretty much every store in the country has them. Just go to the chocolate/hard candy section. You will find some really great flavors. Try to have one and savor it. They have a lot of sugar alcohol in them.

I am starting my 2 week liquid fast on 6/5 and I'm planning on making Atkins Mocha smoothies (Atkins shake and ice). :D

You can do this but you need to get rid of your trigger foods. I stayed on a very low calorie, low carb diet until I hit goal. I generally stayed at 700 or under on my calories per day, mostly around 550. Also, I work out daily at the gym and joined my gym's Biggest Loser program. Mostly I got rid of anything that triggers my grazing. Yes, I have a "sweet tooth" too but have learned to substitute . Every night I have a Protein hot chocolate from BariWise - 80 calories, 4 carbs and 15 grams of protein. That is my "treat". Once in a while I would have a piece of dark chocolate but boy, did that start the carving cycle again. In fact, I was at the grocery, purchase a bag of dark chocolate dove pieces. First day I had 1 piece, 2nd day I had 1 piece, 3rd day I had 3 pieces and realized that I was starting down a bad path so I took that bag and threw it away. I just can't do it, after all I didn't lose 137lbs to go back to my old lifestyle. Its a work in progress but you have to be vigilant. Most of us who opt for this surgery really understand what you are going through because we are there too, the difference is that we have found the strategies to get us through those cravings. How much do you want this? If so you want this then realize that you need to take care of yourself first and get focused on your goal!!

I am in the same boat as you. I had surgery Nov 28, 2013. I have lost 66 lbs and have not lost anything for 5 weeks. Am getting very depressed. My story is similar to yours. I started sampling a piece of a roll at a restaurant and maybe a couple of my husbands fries and a handful of chips late at night. I an a CARBOHOLIC . My nut told me last visit to increase to 1200 cal. I was doing just fine on 800-1000. That was a mistake. Now I am having a lot of trouble getting down to even 1000.

Please keep in touch with me, we can lick this together. I need someone to be accountable to and it sounds like you do too.

Best of luck.

I wasn't working out either which I was told to start 2 post op ;-( but for the past two weeks I've been walking 2 miles up and down a hill ;-) maybe thats a start for me but I just have this sweet tooth I'm going to have to find something sweet with no calories and thats hard ;'( I feel like if I was addicted to sweets I wish they had some type of medication for that lol

I'm sorry that you don't have positive support at home, but this is for you, for your health. Don't fall into to the I told you so trap, prove them wrong!

I cut a Pure Protein bar into 3 pieces, so if I want a sweet snack I eat a piece and it takes away that sugar craving and adds about 7 grams of Protein to my day.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice its so hard just don't know how I got back here again and then I have my mom and my friends telling by surgery was a waste of time :-/ I did start going to a nutritionist but she really doesn't give me like any good tips basically all she does is weight me on this scale that says how much have I gained or lost on Water weight and fat weight and then asks me what did I eat, she doesn't really help so I guess I'll be looking for a new nutritionist soon thanks for ur help ;-)

A NUT can help by discussing food choices but they can't help with the choices that you chose to eat. This would be a good time to seek a therapist that specializes in bariatric weight loss. This is your thought processes and the inability to control the impulse to eat poor choices in food. Go back to basics and eat Protein, protein, and protein and some veggies. Detox from the carbs. Look up LilMissDiva's Basic Bootcamp, it is posted here under food and diet I believe. You can do this and the weight will start to come off........ :)

Remember that eating carbs and sugar will make you crave more carbs and sugar. Get that cycle of eating sweets (at least not sugar free stuff) broken and the cravings will get better. I am a carbaholic and a chocaholic too but I have to choose DAILY, sometimes by the minute, not to let myself fall down those paths again. You can do it!

I'm 6 months out and know how easy it is to go back to old ways. What's helped is eating 5-6 times a day. Roughly every 3 hours. Buy healthy snacks- nuts, avacado, string cheese, yogurt, hummus with raw zucchini slices, etc. For sweets, Fiber one has chocolate Protein Bars now and they are delicious! Also I have snack packs if I need them. Good luck it's never too late!

I find sugar free Jello particularly satisfying when I want something sweet.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
