Breast Reduction/Lift *Graphic Pics

Thank you SO SO SO much for posting this.

I just had my first consult with a plastic surgeon about a lift and a TT' date=' and he left me a bit confused on the lift part. Is a LIFT and a REDUCTION the same surgery? I'm a D or DD right now, but he said I could end up a C or B when all is said and done. So I'm taking that to mean that a lift is the SAME surgery as a reduction.

Can anyone clear that up for me?

Also he was pushing implants (which I DO NOT want) even though I'm done having kids and breastfed both of my girls, I don't want the worry/maintenance of implants. In fact if my choice was LEAVE THEM ALONE or DO IMPLANTS I would choose to leave them alone. That is how much I don't want implants.[/quote']

It ends up being like a reduction bc of the Excess skin removal. I am a am a DD+ right now but I can tell a lot of it is skin so I know if they do a lift I will end up a c/d even though I am not going for a true "reduction". That is why I will consider implants bc I have always had large breasts even before I was heavy I just don't want small ones.

Thank you! I was also very large-chested before I gained weight, so the thought of being a B is a little scary. I think I would be perfectly OK with a C. I gotta tell you though when I do intense cardio exercise THAT is when I WISH I was B. Because there is just not a bra in the world that can keep them still. The only time I don't have trouble is when I do spin...they stay put mostly because I'm working my legs more than anything.

One thing that I would NOT consider is a lift/reduction without also at some point a TT, because I had a friend who went from DD to prob. B or maybe a C and she was NOT fat (just tall, larger woman, like I would say probably 180-190lbs and 5'10") but she had a reduction (paid for by insurance) because she was having horrid back/neck/shoulder pain and I have to tell you her stomach looks a LOT bigger now after she had the girls reduced. :(

I have had 3 c-sections so I am in for the full Mommy Makeover experience lol.

You should ask your Dr for clarification, but here is what I understand to be accurate from my experience. You can have just a lift, without a full reduction. However, in cutting and doing the lift, some tissue is removed/condensed so you get a little smaller, fuller, higher bust. My Dr cautioned me against implants as he felt I had enough nice breast tissue to get a full, good looking result without implants. I'm very pleased. A "lift only" is not the same as a reduction.

As for the stomach looking bigger, I don't really have that issue. I train everyday though and don't have much excess skin or belly fat at all. He left me very proportionate so that my whole body is very balanced.

Thank you all for the info. I am six months out of wls and am exploring ps. Before surgery I was a DDD/ F. I have recently noticed my breasts being deflated, like raisins. I have lost all volume. I went to Victoria Secret (I figured if anyone could lift them, they could!;) well I ended up with a push up but after wearing it for a day I noticed they were "puddling". In other words, they were spilling out near the bottom of the demi bra. I feel hopeless for the next 6 months, until a ps will even look at me! At least I have hope now!

No you are right, your belly looks good (from what I can see in the pics) and your chest is eerily similar to what I have now. I think my dr. was pushing the implants because the "finished" product looks better than just the lift. I'm considering having another consult with a different PS just because I wasn't overly impressed with the first guy. He was recommended by my VSG dr. and they practice at the same hospital, etc. So they are buddies. :) I just didn't feel the love or feel like all of my ?'s were answered. And some of it is me, I *thought* of more ?'s after I left.

I too am anti-implant, what's that gonna look like when we're 70?? That's why I'm so keen on researching the use of recycled fat. I mean, if they are already doing it successfully with the backside, why not the front lumps? :)

Victoria's Secret bras are poorly made in IMO I like Freya and Fanstasie of England the bras cost about the same as VS but are better quality you can by from Figleaves.com,Nordstrom and there are a few other stores that carry but I would look online Chantrele bras are also good.Good bras is what I have to do for my deflated Fs until it is time for plastics:)

I get it :) I just figure if it bothers me at 70 I will fix them lol but by 70 I prob won't care. Of course my teeny tiny mother just now got her first boobs ever for her 60th Birthday so I may care after all.

I completely agree - Nordstroms is a great place for bra shopping. Wacoal and Natori and my favorite. A good bra can do wonders. I am (fingers crossed) having the mommy makeover in July and can't wait!!

Hi everyone. I had my "almost 3 week" post op yesterday. I am 19 days post op, to be exact.

Here are some updated pics, with the tape removed. The right side is still more swollen than the lift and has some leakage at incision sites, which is why the nipple looks a little distorted. However, you can see how things look without tape. Ruffling, swelling, and leakage will subside day by day. Swelling will take months to subside completely. My pain level went down considerably when the tape came off. I'm still quite sore and have a lot of zinging nerve pain. All in all I'm super pleased with the progress so far.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
