Dr. Phil tomorrow with Sharon Osborne

Recommended Posts

I may have read between the lines but I took it that she wanted to eat the foods she loved without having the band hold her back.

Thanks for posting that - I had it on this morning and my mom called and I missed most of it.

I too was disappointed. I do like Sharon but she's very immature in my opinion. She could have used this as a tool to help others, to help herself understand WHY She wants the band removed . She said she's going to get as big as a house once the band is off she's going to eat eat eat .She wants the band off to eat , in my opinon it was plane and simple . Dr Phil said because she hasnt dealt with her issues as to WHY She eats that having the band off is going to do change nothing but have the band off, its true, and ya know what ? She's not going to change . She's too immature to . Dr Phil says she thrives on drama , so she'll blow up again to have the drama around her so her kids need her again . She had no intention on coming on that show to "Deal" with or learn anything, it was to promote her book and that was it .

Just my take on it.

That was the same impression I got when I saw her on one of the late night shows a few weeks ago. She made the comment about how she was able to 'outsmart' the band. We all can do that if we want to with soft calories, but why do that?

I didn't see today's show, but after reading the transcript and seeing that she had moved 27 times in 25 years, maybe she is just someone who is never happy with what she has. I think I said in a previous post that I think she might be 'addicted to change' and this transcript certainly added to that feeling.

My honey had said he had heard that she wanted it removed because she hadn't stop being Bulimic and that her urge to purge was dangerous with the band in place. She did an interview on one of the morning shows months ago and that is what he remembered.

I love that woman but I do think it is a bunch of publicity stunts some of these talk show appearances. It is really hard to take when someone puts themselves out there but is totally evasive when the questions start coming at them.

IMHO. I don't mean to be critical but honesty is so important when she is the highest profile person who has had this done AND is willing to discuss it.

Eating disorder makes sense. If that is not it and it is beign able to eat what she wants couldn't she eat whatever she wants with the band and no fill. i sure can...very weird!

Saw the show on Dr. Phil and I think her battle with colon cancer is the reason for band removal. Maybe something to do with nutrition. Never really discussed her reason only her fear of gaining the weight back. I so identified with her explanation of hunger. You know, going to bed thinking about what you would eat the next day. She said she already had her 1st meal planned for when the band comes off. I'm one week post op for the second time due to slippage. Seeing her this week validated so many feelings that I have about mealtime. Dr. Phil asked her to promise to do just what he asked for 30 days, and he would guarantee the weight would stay off. Who are they kidding? If she could do that, she wouldn't have the band in the first place. Some of us truly like to eat, enjoy the next bite, live to eat! Anyway, I've done the year without the band, thinking I won't gain back the weight. All the cute clothes I had bought are now awaiting the new me,...Once Again !!

Hmmmm, I don't understand why she just doesn't have the band unfilled, try it her way (or Dr. Phil's way), and see if she can do it. I just wonder what's going to happen when she regains the weight, which appears to be inevitable based on her current mindset. Oh, silly me, that's the makings of the next book!

This woman has issues. She seems to have a need to fix things that arent broken and ignore things that need her attention. My question is, why put her on stage and share her problems with the world if she hasnt answers to share?

The next book, right. That's the hollywood way. I can't identify with that, but I do, unfortunately, relate to her obsession with food. When she removes that band, I think her problems with food will double. The emotional and physical changes are overwhelming. I can't imagine doing without the band. Mine slipped last summer and I feel whole again after having it replaced. Now food can be savored, bite by bite, again. I don't think everyone who has passion for food is masking an underlying problem. We have to eat to live. An appreciation for the flavor, artistic presentation and atmosphere at mealtime could be considered an art. I know I love to cook, create, taste...Does that make me unstable? Or, in a way, an artist of a sort?

Sharon said on Howard Stern a few weeks ago .... and she really really tried to avoid the question .... that she had acid reflux and that since the band needed to be replaced every 10 years anyway (I've not heard that - is it true?) she was just going to have it taken out and try on her own. She didn't state acid reflux as *THE* reason but more as *A* reason she wants it out.

I was kind of wondering if she is having a problem with it but doesn't want to publicize the problem in fear of scaring others away from the band. If that was the case though, why would she even go public with removing the band?

Sharon is a huge binge eater....even back on the Osbournes there were a couple of episodes where Sharon was running to the bathroom to PB or purge. Ozzy said once that he wished she would just take the f***ing thing out. She has also said, years ago, that her whole family has addictive personalities and that her vice was definately food. Isn't frequent PBing linked with slippage? I feel for her, I really do. I too am a binge eater and that is why I am looking into having a band placed. I have to have something to hold me accountable for my actions so that I will learn....Evindently Sharon hasn't learned...I'll just hope that if I am banded I will be a fast learner!!!!!!

She had the band 10 years.

Rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne is to undergo an operation to remove the restrictive gastric band in her stomach which helped her lose weight.

The band, which was fitted in 1996, has reached the end of its ten-year lifespan and will be removed before the wife of Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy celebrates Christmas with her family.

Gastric surgery helped The X Factor judge slim down after a lifelong battle with her weight - although the 53-year-old admits she will still need the support of therapy to avoid falling back into her bulimic ways.

She says, "I'm going to have to do it and I'm going to have to go and see a therapist."

I could swear this is repeat, that it was on maybe a month ago....I turned it off because it seem way too negative. I forgot she also had cancer, which that alone sends your body/mind and everything else into a tailspin, but she's also married to the Prince of Darkness! Between Ozzie, Jack, Kelly, and the critters I think she has more problems than just the lap band itself.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
