I am just finishing my 3rd week and my weight loss has slowed but not stopped. But in the original comment I am most concerned with the 7-cups of liquid. juice has just as much sugar as most sodas, so you need to stay away from juice. And Ice Tea normally has caffeine, which will cause problems also, make sure you only drink Water or a Protein shake.

I was stalled for 2 weeks starting right at my 3rd week after surgery. Cool thing was that I had kept up taking my measurements and the inches were still melting off during my stall.

Everyone talking about the dreaded three wk stall so I got curious. I broke my only one week rule and weighted myself. I've lost two pounds since my third week weight in. Maybe the stall doesn't show itself until the fourth wk. Time will tell.

I had my Surgery July 22nd the first two week check up I had lost 16 pounds Woo Hoo, then I only lost 2lb per week for the past two weeks ;-( I am keeping my calories low under 500 or so per day, I have been exercising and doing weight training but nothing crazy.

however yesterday I weighed myself, which is a no no for me I usually weigh once per week and when I stepped on the scale it said I gained 3lb?

how can this be I eat nothing and have been exercising so I figured it was Water weight (maybe) so again today I weighed and it said I gained 4lb?

So it looks like I gained every thing I lost since my first post op f/u.

What the hell is happening to me, I read horror stories on the internet and I"m so confused.

I understand people stall, but to gain is horrific I'm so emotional is this surgery not working or is this just something that happens.

Any Suggestions I"m all ears.

Thank you

If you are on a stall early on, eat more, drink more and stay off the scale. For those of you under 500-600 calories, you are starving yourself and training your body to get by with less and less calories. This will make it harder to lose and maintain when you get farther out. My longest stall was at my lowest calorie intake when I Was sick from a medication and too nauseous to eat. As soon as I Doubled my intake the pounds fell off. I don't track or measure anything, but a couple spot checks of my calories showed 1000 calories by 2-3 months, 1200 calories at 6 months and been maintaining 12 pounds below goal for 4 months on 1400-1600 calories.

Eat Protein, drink Water, take your Vitamins, include a balance of veggies, fruits and whole grains. Quit making postop so hard and STAY OFF THE FUCKING scale.< /p>

Thank you so much ladies for the great advice and not making me feel like a failure!!!! I'm stuck at the same weight for 1.5 weeks now and I may have gained 1 lb. I was so discouraged until I read these comments.

I'm at week three. Lost 25 lbs since surgery. Been at the same weight for the last 5 days. I am getting about 110 grams of Protein, about 1100 cal a day, and 60 oz of Water daily. I go on a 6.1 mile walk every morning that takes me 90 minutes to do. And usually walk another mile or two with my usual daily activity. Can't figure why the weight just stopped coming off.

The body is funny and will hold on to weight if you aren't getting enough calories. Try lowering exercise to 3 miles a day and/or adding a shake. I didn't do nearly this much at week 3.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
