Has anyone started to eat more since they've got there surgery date?

Recommended Posts

I totally stressed and ate a TON leading up to the 2 weeks before surgery. BUT I havent cheated once on the liquid phase because I did a lot of reading and recognize that shrinking your liver is SUPER important for a good, safe outcome. My surgery is in 2 days (OMG....) I felt very emotional today and wanted to stuff my face, but it's good practice for after surgery and ending the comfort eating cycle. Good luck!! Try to just breathe and visualize positive things - like your hot new bod!!! It's been helping me get through. (oh, as well as hangin out on this forum.)

Also, when it finally CLICKED that I'd still be able to eat foods I love again at some point (of course in moderation, but that's the POINT) I felt a lot more at peace.

Hmmm, I guess I felt it would be too hard to make an abrupt seith from "old eating" to new eating. Someone (somewhere) said that it takes 4 days for your body to forget that you had "X" to eat... So I've been trying to be very controlled (protein only) for the three weeks before the two weeks of Optifast pre-surgical. Not right, not wrong... just what might work for me.

Thank goodness for everyone on this thread. I am on the final month of a 6-month insurance approval for my sleeve and have been insanely craving all of my old favorite foods. In fact, during this process I have not lost any weight and am afraid insurance might look at that and deny me. But the "food funeral" totally makes sense now. Thanks everyone!!

I have been in a 6 month pre-op work up and even lost 25lbs since I started but now that I have 3 weeks left before surgery I find myself eating more and not watching what I eat. I tell myself that I'm doing eat because I'm not going to pig out ever again so might as well get it out of my system now. Anyone else in this situation?

Ahh...Food Funerals. My husband called it pre-apocalypse days for me. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
