Lower BMI Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Audree,

Dr. Rumbaut and his nutritionist told us to eat for 30 minutes, then stop, even if you have not completed the meal. I got banded exactly a month before you did. I go for my first fill back in Monterrey on Monday. My family has a history of MO, heart disease and hypertension. I want to lose 60 lbs.

Hi everybody!

I have been trying to think of a good name for my band. I can't think of one.

I have been worrying too that once I move on to mushies that I will stop losing. I am perfectly happy on liquids now. I have gotten so used to them, it's kind of nice. I never have to think of what to buy or what to cook. I am never hungry. I can't remember who said it, but I am sure they are right. It was about the Atkins diet and being in Ketosis. I know from my many trys on Atkins, that as soon as I start eating carbs, that's when I start craving sweets and feeling hungry.

I am 5'2'' too. and had a lot of people tell me I wasn't fat enough to have a lap band. In fact, the nurse a few minutes before surgery told me that. We know ourselves so well, and I know I was headed in the wrong direction. It was getting really hard to not gain a couple of pounds every week. I have been exercising for almost 3 years almost every day and it was really frustrating to do an hour of cardio every day and never lose one pound, but instead gain a couple pounds every weekend.

It's kind scary to think about getting the fills right. I was at the support group last night and a lady there couldn't even drink Water. She said she was PBing all the time. I simply can not afford to have any problems with band slippage, etc. $10,000 was enough money to put out. I want to follow the rules and be a success story. I've lost 14 lbs now and it will be 3 weeks this friday.

I think even after I move to mushies, I will just have a mushy dinner. It is sometimes hard to get the Water in, since we are supposed to wait an hour to drink. I usually drink a bunch as soon as I get up because I don't feel like anything else until mid morning.

Audree , you should really be proud of yourself for doing such a good job of staying off the scale!!!:D:clap2::cool::)

I am so glad all of you are here!!:biggrin1:

We are in the same boat! I wanted to catch myself before I gained any more weight. I bet everyone wishes they could have done that too. I am 12 days post op, will be two weeks on Friday. I can start solids/mushies on day 22.

I have been having creamy Soups, yogury, V8 and anm still not getting enough calories. I get under 800 a day and I think that is too low. I am trying to get more in. I think if I lower my metabolism by eating low calories, it will only hurt me when I start eating solids.

I think I won't weigh myself until I am a few days into solids.

My pants do feel looser.

I am so happy to have people here that understand where I am.

I was also told by a few patients that I looked small but they thought that was better that I caught myself before going into the 200's.

I have been finding that at about 30 minutes, I feel like it is time to stop. A different type of full. My family has a history of heart diesese, heart attack at early ages, diabeties, high and low blood pressure, breast cancer, etc. I want to lose 50 pounds. So, we are similar in our stats

Hello!

I have people tell me I don't look like I qualify for surgery too. My husband came up with a cute name last week for the band. He calls it the belly band!

I have the citrus. It is not the best tasting thing in the world, but it is not the worst. It is good stuff though!

I went ahead and ordered the 1oz travel packs of both flavors to try them both. That way it will be convenient to take to work with me since they are pre-measured doses and the whole family can use them if they like them or they can be mixed with juice. I just want to feel good and energized and you convinced me that's what it does! I have tried it before in Sam's club when they were giving out samples but I don't remember the taste.:nervous Doesn't matter now I spent money on it so I will use them.:rose:

Hi everybody,

I sat down to a "bandster meal", started with my solid Protein, was only able to eat a couple of bites, ate some veggies, ate a couple of bites of that and some starch, again, a couple of bites. Guess what? I'm full. I'm amazed. Before, I would have wolfed it all down and been ready for dessert. I have not even had a fill yet.

Hi All! I'm new to posting but have been reading (lurking) :rose: for over a week now. In fact, it was because of you guys, Audrey YOU ROCK, that I have started to stop worrying and start getting really excited for this awesome change that we are all going through together! I can't wait till I'm through with the pre-op and onto the post-op with everyone.

I am getting banded with Dr. Ortiz next Thursday, Jan 25th, and then I have to be back to work on Monday. I really hope that I'll be up and going like everyone since I haven't told anyone (except my Mom and my husband) and I work with mostly men and they WOULD NOT understand.

I have all my supplies and even though I am going down to have the surgery alone, my Mom will be here waiting for me when I come home to nurse me back to health over the weekend. :sick She's such a sweety. My husband is deployed and comes home in March. :clap2: I know this that 2007 is going to be an awesome year for all of us! This is our year to finally get a hold of our biggest obstacle and for me anyways, a daily battle. I am really looking forward to the day that I wake up and don't hate myself for failing at another diet and going to the closet trying to find something that fits comfortably.

CONGRATS!!! I am so happy to have helped you in any way. I only also told my mom and husband. Can you imagine how you will look when he gets home???? :)

I am so excited too about this being my year. I also would daily obsess and just feel so at peace with myself. I am not where I want to be yet by far, but I FEEL so much better. I get full on very little. I just feel like I have a new lease on life! I love my Bandy! And I will respect her and work with her, not against her.

Let me know if you'd like any other info!!!

We are on our way!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Wow!! I can't wait to be there! I am almost a little scared too. I am getting used to being on liquids. I still have good restriction, 2 weeks down the road. I am not looking forward to losing restriction. I hope my restriction lasts until my first fill at the 6 week point, which is in 4 weeks.

Audree,

I don't think you will have a problem with restriction....we seem to be following the same course from reading some of your posts, hmm, you are almost my bandster twin. I have to have coffee first thing, cannot eat anything in the am, have to wait until later in the day. But I will tell you, when you first go to solids, it will be an eye opener. My first day, I went to my favorite Breakfast place. Sat down to a cheese omelete, grits and coffee. Drank the coffee first, took two bites of the omelete, and was full, I literally could not continue. The waittress asked me, "Is there something wrong with the food? " She is so used to me cleaning my plate. So, I think, even without a fill you will still have some restriction, I know I do. By the way, what size is your band?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
