June surgery dates

  • Popular Post

Hello all! I've been reading the forum for the past couple of months, thank you all for the great advice and sharing your experiences. It's been very helpful and informative! I met with the surgeon a week ago today, my surgery date is June 26. Anyone else for June?

Mine is 3 weeks...I'm sure I'll start feeling a bit better after a few more days. At least I hope so:)

All of the posts I have read say by day 3 or 4 it is much better...I hope so....

I'm sorry y'all... Day 4 of my pre op diet. No food. Just protein shakes & water & I'm really hungry. I know I'm doing this for a very good reason but I'm SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY frigging hungry & obsessing about food!!! All the self talk in the world isn't stopping my tummy from rumbling. I'm drinking 4-5 protein shakes a day. And a lake full of water...

I know it is rough. I think of what my mom said when things were hard when I was younger. Things easily gotten are not worth having. It is so true for me. Everything I have done in my life has been hard and I love that I have them. A quick fix of food will only add to your post op problems. Can you call someone who has been in your shoes. Pregnancy and delivery are great example of things that are truly hard but so worth it. You got this. I also pray about it. I am always asking for strength to get through life. I hope this helps you. If I were there I would give you a big hug and make you laugh. I know that you are strong! Your son/daughter is in the navy and that is rough not knowing where they are and when they are coming home

Yes Niue, we'll all be sexy!

I was joking and said my new song/mantra will be "I'm bringing sexy back"

Me too. :)

Good luck.

Just had my last appointment before insurance approval! It's submitted, my bloodwork was excellent according to the nurse and they're going to try to expedite surgery once I get insurance approval (hopefully I can still sneak in for June). I'm starting the pre- surgery diet tomorrow which is high protein, low carb (20g or less per day). I've said goodbye to my fave foods gradually, losing 25lbs in the process, but I realised I was running out of time to make/eat my favourites and had Swedish pancakes, Indian buffet, Phad Thai and jasmine rice, and a napoleon, grapes, ice cream, etc in the past few days. As I start the diet tomorrow, I was feeling sad thinking "there's so many things I wanted to eat still! It can't be over! I mentioned it to my Mom, and she said that people who are dying often have the same reaction- "there's so many things I wanted to do still...I'm not ready!". I guess there is a similarity there- the old me is dying and a thinner healthier me will be taking my place. I'm terrified and excited at the same time- my first surgery ever.

So glad to hear the good stories right after surgery. Helps those of us that are scheduled soon and feeling quite nervous. Appreciate all the pep talks!!

June 11 here!

June 24th as well :)

Ok guys, I DID IT!!! I have to be honest though yesterday was not fun. Everyone is different and I was hoping to be one the lucky ones and whiz right through but not the case. It took 6 different tries to get my IV in, and coupled with my anxiety, wasn't good. The incision pain I can deal with, but this gas pain is all over my abdomen, shoulders and back. It really does help to walk although it is very painful gritting in and out of bed. I vomited many times yesterday and that hurt so bad. So if you can do anything, try not to, I just couldn't do it. BUT..... Today is much better, I already had to drink the leak dye and I keep telling the nurse I was going to throw it up, but I didn't, I actually kept it down. My heating pad I brought has helped me immensely with my shoulder and back pain so if you have one pack it.! so I'll try and post later and tell you how today goes.
