May 8th meet with surgeon

Recommended Posts

Excited! But wish i could find someone to talk to about this. On may 8th i meet my surgeon for the first time. I have my approved referral and everything else complete. I know that every surgeon is different and that they give different people different things to do! But i just want a better understanding of what the first meeting with the surgeon is like. And about how long looking at the date to having the surgery. Just really want meet people who have been through it already. my boyfriend is 100000% supportive and helps with everything but still looking to meet people who are going through it....any help, trips, suggestions would be awesome!!

My understanding is if you've met all your criteria or are working towards it, that first meeting with your surgeon is usually when you set a surgery date. That's how mine went anyway. Good luck to you & so wonderful you have a very supportive boyfriend! Support from loved ones makes a world of difference in the outcome of your journey!

You're welcome Cheeze! I haven't had my surgery yet. My surgery date is July 15th because I requested summer surgery, when my kids are out of school. I'm just going by the plan that I was given when I attended my first meeting. The program director of the hospital where I'm supposed to have my surgery gave me a plan list & I have had to go thru the check list getting different appointments done & testing done. But she said, once you meet your surgeon, you get your surgery date & that's pretty much it!

I have my consult on June 14th. No insurance approval yet, but a list of other appts to start making. My worry is if I make all these appts and then get denied its a lot of time and money wasted. Of course I would appeal, but still. I also need a letter of medical necessity, but haven't even spoken to my primary care doc about it. My insurance doesn't require referrals for any specialists so I didn't even think about it. Good luck with your appt, I hope everything goes smoothly!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
