I was thinking last night about my clothes that I have now and was curious how I will be able to keep up with clothes to fit me once I have the surgery! Question for all how to keep up with the different clothes sizes? Do you shop all the time to keep up with your weight loss?

Thrift shops seem to be a pretty popular answer. I'm still at the point where I had some older clothes (some brand new.. from years ago) waiting around for me to catch up. I used to have a drawer full of jeans from various sizes that didn't fit. When I ran out of those I picked up a few sizes from a thrift shop last week. They're still too small, but it's good to know that they'll be there. $3/piece & they're both dark blue like new almost.

I bought the least I could get away with. I bought pants snug - one or two pairs at a time. Just a few shirts here and there. I shopped at Walmart, Target, and Ross. I waited till clothes were pretty baggy and then bought snug.

I have been finding some new items on eBay for very reasonable prices. I managed for a few months in my old clothes (and initially took some of those in) but then dropped a bunch of sizes quickly, and of course had some older things just waiting to fit into again. Happily I am now smaller than my smallest hold out piece of clothing. :-)

I had boxes of smaller clothes in my basement. I am down to my smallest and will be so happy when I can buy new clothes in a size I've never worn before. It should be soon!

The nice thing is that Goodwill usually has WAY more small clothes than big clothes. People are way more likely to donate clothes they grew out of than clothes they shrunk out of ;)

Originally, 3 1/2 yrs ago, I wore a 22 or 3x. I had an entire walk in closet full of clothes - including about 30 items with tags still on em. I gave them ALL away, little by little when they started hanging off of me. I bought a few things but waited until I could buy a 14 and a 1x before really shopping. I was so excited to get into a 14 at Old Navy. Then I went right over a 12 and into a 10 in a couple months. When I was an 8, I knew I had arrived! Single digits. Now I'm back in a 10 - but I'm keeping all my 7/8s cuz I WILL wear them again!

There's a clothing exchange forum where you can find good deals from people ungrowing (not outgrowing!) their clothes. I sent a box to NE and 1 to Houston, TX for just shipping. Also ebay's a great place to find good deals. Make sure you read the measurements as the sizes are all different.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
