I had all intents on getting the lap band and now am leaning towards the sleeve, is dumping a side effect of the sleeve or just bypass?

I believe it can be a side effect of both. Although less severe for the sleeve and most severe for the bypass. I have the sleeve and I've have very little candy but I did eat three Hershey's kisses on day and felt terrible. I had to lay down for hours to get myself together. Head was spinning, I was dizzy no diarrhea thankfully but I learned my lesson

I don't have any problem with that..but my Sis-n-law who had the bypass does. My experience with the sleeve is more Constipation issues instead of dumping! But that can be easily managed.

You will get mixed answers to this. Some say no dumping with the sleeve, others were told differently. I was told that there is a possibility and I think I have experienced it- I ate a donut once and couldn't leave the house for hours. I also get increased heart rate when I drink Protein shakes. I asked my NUT about it and she said it was possibly dumping syndrome. If this is a concern of yours, the sleeve will be your best bet. If it does happen, it's less severe and less common than with RNY.

Never had a problem with dumping. If I eat to much which I have twice I get the foamies....feels like I'm gonna throw up and a ton of foamy liquid in my mouth but I never actually threw up. I haven't eaten a ton of sugar but I have had some.

I thought it couldn't happen with the sleeve. Boy was I wrong! One gram of sugar and I'm in the bathroom immediately. Worst case of diareaha Ever and it happens instantely. it is horrible. I would have gone with the bypass had I known they both can cause dumping syndrome. Oh we'll. have to work with what I got now.

I had it once. Ate food at Christmas I didn't prepare. Even tho I made good choices or so I thought, there was obviously a lot of hidden fat or sugar. Felt like food poisoning only without the vomiting or diarrhea. It was miserable. Lesson learned.

The closest I got was during the liquid to soft food phase (I was a chicken for progressing). I had the liquid from chicken coconut Soup and was fine with the portion I ate but then drank sone Water to wash the flavor out and it must have pushed it through sleevie too fast or it was too early aftet surgery to eat because I got really clammy, nauseated and then pooped. Not runny but still.

Since then, I took it slow and have not had any issues. I had a brownie bite about 1" x1" with no problems so it can just b e a time issue.

I am now experiencing dumping syndrome. Will this go away? Just started last night and I thought I was constipated but it wasn't. So I'm watching my carbs and sugar. I splurged one time on sugar Cookies and I will never do it again. This was the first time I had sugar because I stick to splenda in everything.

I was a told dumping syndrome only lasted a couple of hours and that was true the one time I had it. I also didn't "dump". Just felt like a terrible case of food poisoning. Dizziness, headache, nausea, chills, cramps, but nothing coming out of either end. I was told that is how it normally presents. If it started last night and you still feel bad, maybe you just have a bug. We tend to worry that things are sleeve related, but isn't always! If you don't feel better tomorrow, you should check in with your doctor.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
