8 weeks out this week and feeling crappy

Recommended Posts

Just about 8 weeks out and still wondering when am I going to feel like myself again. Still very weak, no energy, no appetite, and almost everything I attempt to eat makes me nauseous. But I guess on the flip side the weight is falling off. Surgery 278, current weight 237 so I'm down 41 lbs. Anyone have this nausea issue if so when did it pass? I literally have to lie down after almost everything I eat...

I'm 6 weeks out and feel the exact same way! My surgeon told me yesterday that it will get better within the next 1-2 months! Now is when you have the most restriction, but it's hard for me to eat anything! I'm jealous of those that have sleeves of steel!

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well! My surgery is on 05/06, and I feel like I hear a lot of people saying they feel nauseous for a few months, it's making me nervous! Do you feel like you're drinking enough and can you get you Vitamins? I hope you're feeling better soon - it's gotta be rough!

Definitely not drinking enough and having a hard time with vitamins...I just can't wait to a few more months under my belt where I can tolerate more without feeling sick to my stomach because that's the absolute worse!

I'm sorry to hear that! What are you eating at 6 weeks out? Maybe the things you're eating are still too heavy for you? I'm only a month out however things like scrambled eggs don't go down so well while grilled chicken goes down just fine. Definitely make an effort to get your Vitamins in! I got the fruity chewables from the start so vitamins were never a problem. Water is still an issue for me as well but it's definitely getting better! I hope you feel better soon!,

Hi all. My op was April 16 and I've lost 22lbs since the surgery. I started solids this week and is having difficulty. I no protien is important and has started drinking my shakes & smoothies. Actually the Dairy Queen smoothie with added Protein is really good and goes down smooth. It's a lot better than my at home blended Protein Shakes.

I tried egg & chicken salad my mom makes without the extra fixings and that appears to b tolerable. Tried baked Talapia tonight and had the chest issue, which is my issue. I hate this part. What's the best way to handle this?

I don't want to lose too much weight and have that drained older look. I actually like how I look now and only want to lose about 30lbs more. I'm 5'11 with a large frame and believe a size 18 Misses would be nice.

Hey Hun what kind of Vitamins are you taking and which one is causing you the problems? I am not getting enough Fluid in as well so I know how you are feeling. Do you have anymore nausea meds maybe take those before or after you eat. In the beginning I felt the same way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
