That sounds like a good alternative and maybe order salsa as the dressing.

Most of the places here bring chips and salsa for free. I do usually eat a few chips. Probably about four to six. My NUT said not to make yourself feel deprived. I also eat rice and Beans. But only about a quarter cup of the rice and 1/2 cup or so of Beans. And I don't do it every day, or even every week now.

Oh and I have charro Beans and not the refried. I never really liked the refried anyway. Until I found out I could usually get charro beans, I would get double rice instead.

While it is tempting to not deprive myself with a little here and a little there, I do not want to start stumbling down a slippery slope and then fall off a cliff.

I know myself and how that has happened in diets in the past. Plus I have seen some others struggling with it recently. I would rather just keep eating as healthy as possible as long as it is not stressing me out. So far not stressful at all eating the way I am and do not miss the old comforts as long as I do not start eating them. I want to eat in a way that is going to maximize results in my workouts and in the way clothes fit and in the way I feel about myself. Rambling a little, but I hope that makes sense.

I know some do not want to adopt the whole eating life style of a reborn post op, but I feel it has worked really well for me with my all or nothing personality type. Sorry for the rant, that is just who I am in my approach to life.

I will be saying no thank you to the tortilla chips, rice and refried beans.

Living next to the border, I eat Mexican all the time. Carne Asada is good, Carne al Pastor, Machaca beef, personally my go to Mexican dish at my fav restaurant is I order the taco salad with chicken, they bring it out and the chicken is shredded and moist, I take that off the salad, smash it with guacamole and salsa and it is really yummy. I usually end up leaving the salad and the tortilla bowl. any of the civiche dishes would be fine also. Good luck!

Fiddle I just got back from the farmers market!

Yummy! Sample heaven.... I had different kinds of smoked salmon goat cheese to die for, fruit and almonds!

Gotta love the free lunch :P

I have planned out most of my favorite restaurants and this is one of them. Ours has great black bean Soup and it is vegetarian, so that's a great option. If you ask, you can order off the "sides" menu (like adding chicken to a salad) and ask for shrimp, chicken or steak to add into the Soup or on the side.

If you have a favorite, ask for the sauce on the side and just use a bit. :)

Ended up going calmares montrey at Azteca. Very yummy and I feel compatible with sleeve eating.

Excellent choice, Fiddleman! I don't get to Azteca much anymore, but that was always one of the dishes I found tasty.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
