Yay for June 19! Sorry about your coworkers. There's so much prejudice against heavy people. I get it from my inlaws and their snide remarks which is why I'm not telling them either. Actually not telling many: my parents, my son, my fiancé and my best friend. All are supportive.

I totally understand...I have told only my significant other, my two best friends, and my inlaws who will have to doggiesit my fur kids. LOL And they all LOVE that I am having the surgery. Nobody else will know...my employer and co workers will know that I only went for surgery to repair a hiatial hernia...which is the truth. lol

My surgery date is set for June 19th. I'm pretty nervous about a few things. I've never had surgery or been put under so that makes me apprehensive. I'm looking forward to losing weight but it doesn't seem real yet. I meet with the surgeon in May and that's when I find out what my pre op diet will be. Just overall excited but also a little nervous. Anybody relate?

I am June 17th. I think it is normal to be nervous. I have waited for a year. Yeah I am nervous but also ready. Good luck.

I was very anxious the morning of the surgery, by the time I arrived at the hospital a calmness came over me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
