Hi Everyone,

I was banded at TLBC on Nov 17, 2006. I've lost 16lbs so far. I hope to share with everyone their experience and helpful hints for my journey.

Is anyone going to the Holiday Cocktail party at TLBC on the 15th?

Susan

It would be a bit far to travel Jack, but look at all the fun you would have meeting all of the Canuck lapbanders.:) :whoo: :whoo:

Hi Everyone,

I got banded on Nov 17th this year. The first week after the procedure was really bad for me emotionally. First off, my Dad passed away Oct 31. I thought I was ok so I did not reschedule my appointment. I probably should have. I guess because of this new beginning with a band around my stomach, not eating normal food compounded with the grief of my dad's passing. I was a wreck. I wanted the band out. But with the support of my husband and friends, thank God I'm fine now.

I've lost about 17 lbs now and I started my pureed diet today, yummy...

Can someone out there share their experience when they started solids? Did you feel anything different? I'm freaking out not knowing what to expect. And I don't want to throw up or have that feeling of food getting stuck.

Hi Nancy

I was nervous about moving onto the solid stage also, even though i am and always was a slow eater, the key is just what Jack said take small bite's and make sure you chew until the food is like pureed in your mouth before swallowing. I have not had any problems with sliming or PBing so far ( and i hope i never have ).

Sorry to hear about your dad, but it sounds like you have a great support group around you. You are doing great so far and i am sure will continue having great succuss. Good luck.

Maria :)

Yup...chew chew chew and take lil' bites. But keep in mind you have no restriction so may not feel any difference and will likely be able to eat like you did before....but try not to.....get used to the habit of teeny bits and chewing each bit LOTS!!! Once you get a fill (the proper amount) THEN you will feel a big difference!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
