I never had an issue after about a week out. I guzzle my Water bottle as I did prior to my sleeve... But I can only eat a small amt of solids. So perfect :D

I LOVE MY SLEEVE!

I wanna be just like you!!!!!!!!!!! I always take a bottle up to my room at night (water that is...haha) & if I wake up in the night, I drink cause I'm thristy & I guzzle down half a bottle at a time. Hoping I can do that again one day! I should start practicing now taking small sips but I always forget!

I've been able to guzzle since I was in the hospital. So strange how everyone is so different!

I am still a sipper! Big drinks still cause me pain. However, I am breaking the rules and using a straw...it helps me get down more fluids, which I still struggle with. Everybody is different. Best of luck to you.

I guess, I will never chug a diet coke or bud light again...my new reality...

So about two days ago I was working and mindlessly drank too much. Not quite a chug but about 4-5 drinks, not gulps, in succession.

It literally felt like I got kicked in the gut by a donkey right sbove my belly button. I did not barf, but it was real sore like "do I call the doc and go to the ER" sore. But I waited it out. It also gave me gas like crazy bad huge farts. I would have preferred to barf over that pain.

I have taken it slowly since then and backed myself to Protein Shakes and softies. The area still gets a bit sore. I think I put a good strech on that little pocket above the pylorus or caused a ginormous spasm, I don't know what, just guessing. I can eat solids, drink fine, no fever or tach so I know its just my body being mad at me for being stupid and careless.

In any case, I thought I would share that you don't always barf if you overdo it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
