4 Days Post Op.....feeling tired

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 days out and feeling tired and mentally lethargic. Day 2 was rough was stomach pain upon swallowing anything but day 3 turned aroung for the better 100%. i take 4-5 walks about 5-10 min each day. I still feel very low on energy but im following my Dr's diet to the tee. I feel maybe im not getting enough Protein by reading others posts. Here is my current phase one full liquid diet.< /p>

3 tbsp cream of wheat

4 oz Protein shake

3 tbsp creamy Soup with tspn powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder

4 oz Protein Shake

3 tbsp soup

Occasional sf Jello, popsicle.

Getting about 40-50 oz Fluid as well.

I have to follow this for first 3 weeks. Im not hungry but just feeling dull and sluggish.

What post op diets if different from this have any of you been on.

You are doing a lot better than I am on Day 4. I'm just sticking to Water after my earlier incident today with Protein. It was my first try and it came back up and made me feel yucky. I may try some thinned out grits tomorrow since its on my diet. I don't think that I like cream of wheat. I've also got to check into the clear Liquid Protein. I had no issues pre- op with the protein shakes! Good luck with every thing! :)

I'm 4 days out as well. I've been trying to get in one ounce of fluids every 15 minutes. I have been getting in 53-64 ounces (including Protein drinks). I've been getting in 30-52 grams of protein in. It's a full-time job getting in my liquids and protein. I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks. I hope you start to feel better.

Sounds like you are doing great!! Maybe try walking twice a day until you get your energy back and can take in more Vitamins and Protein. Congratulations!

you are doing fabulous.. you just had surgery.. of course you are tired.. I was like a couch potato the first week.. other than getting up and walking in the neighborhood and around the house..and getting my Protein and Water in.. I think we all were.. but you are doing all the right things.. but the most important one you mentioned.. is following the doctors orders to a tee.. I did too..and guess what.. im down 80lbs in 3.5 months so keep up the good work.. be positive and rest..and walk walk walk and sip sip sip lol.. best of luck to you in your new journey. :)

I agree, it sounds like you are doing just fine. I felt lethargic and very tired for the first 2 weeks, and i definitely wasn't getting all my Protein or Water. But at about the 3 week mark, i felt markedly improved and actually started getting some energy back.

I was on clears for a week, and full liquids for 2 weeks before going to puréed.

Rock it, dude. You're doing fine. I can't believe how different everyone's post-surgery diet is, but just keep doing what the doc wants you to do.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
