2 months PO - Food is suddenly unappetizing again?

Recommended Posts

I went through the typical phase immediately after surgery where it was hard to want to eat or drink anything because it all tasted bad, and then it passed. Since then, I've felt pretty normal with food. However, in the last week, everything has started tasting strange to me again. Food tastes bland, or abhorrent. There's no in between. Even my beloved Crystal Light which has seriously helped me maintain my Water intake suddenly just tastes bad. I don't recall ever reading any posts about food taste issues coming back. I'm still eating, and I'm trying mightily to choke the water down. Just wondering, has anyone else experienced this, and does it go away again? It's interesting, it seems to coincide with my weight finally beginning to drop again after a monstrous 3+ week stall. I've been back to dropping about a pound a day, after levitating between the same three pounds for those three weeks.

That's why food tastes funny again. It's the Ketosis. Your body is burning fat and the "exhaust" so to speak, ruins the tastes of everything. Not much you can do about it while you are losing, except smile. When the fat is gone, it will be too!

That's so weird! I had the same issue recently and I'm almost 3 months out. I figured it must be ketosis, so it's a good thing! I had been having a stall and as soon as stuff started tasting funny again the scale moved.

Wow I'm 6 weeks out down 34 but no taste. So glad to know I'm not crazy! (My mother had me tested) ketosis makes sense

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
