Oh dairy, I missed you so...

Recommended Posts

It's probably a totally unnecessary post but who cares! Having delivered my little bundle of joy/sleepless nights I found that I no longer have acid reflux or lactose intolerance.

I've eaten cheese, cottage cheese and even a piece of toast with REAL BUTTER. I'm so happy I could scream. :)

I also seem to have dropped the meat aversion and enjoyed a really delicious (albeit teeny tiny) portion of turkey chili last night. With SOUR CREAM AND CHEESE!! Oh yeah, I'm living the wild life over here.

The fact that my sleeve is once again restricting me to 1/4-1/2 cup portions actually makes me a little sad. I really wanted to eat that entire cup of chili and was disappointed when I couldn't fit more than half.

Ah, to be mostly normal again - where food is enjoyable because I can eat what I want, but where my sleeve keeps me from eating too much of it. Which is a good thing, bowls of chili aside.

Oh, and totally weird side note: I developed a reaction to sulfites after my twins and so couldn't enjoy much wine or beer, but after Elisheva, I appear to have developed a taste for Peanut Butter. Peanut butter is a food I have loathed my entire life...and now I don't feel right unless I eat half a PB & J sandwich every few days or so. What's up with that?

Funny how pregnancy affects so many things!

Glad you can eat dairy again...I think I would just die if I couldn't do dairy. cheese and yogurt are some of my daily staples of living!

Do they have PB2 where you are (I know you can order it online) but it's powdered Peanut Butter with less calories/carbs than reg. PB. You mix it with Water and it turns into a PB consistency. I don't eat it plain but I know some people do. I add it to my plain greek yogurt. 12g adds 45 calories but also 5 more g of Protein to my yogurt! One of my daughters is allergic to Peanut Butter so I have to be careful ...lol sneak it when she isn't around! haha.

Yes....a big second on PB2. I eat plain, or on energy squares. I've had a small PB sandwich a time or 2 but I no longer care for bread....except Popeye's biscuits. They still call to me everytime I drive by.

Congrats! I was lactose intolerant the first 4 months, after that I was right back into it. I missed it soooo much!

I really like this peanut flour.... http://www.netrition.com/protein_plus_peanut_flour.html

1/4 cup 110 cals 16gms of protein! I mix it in shakes, make peanut sauce for tofu and veggies, bake with it....

Elisheva - how beautiful. Do you speak Hebrew?

I didn't pay nearly enough attention as a child or have any real interest in learning modern Hebrew when the opportunity was there as a teen, but I do know my prayers and zemirot. Mostly! :)

My other children (b/g twins) are Isaac and Ahava and while my daughter's name seems odd to Israeli people (as calling your child "Love" in English would be, I imagine) it's always met with "oh, how beautiful!" here in America.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
