Hello, I was wondering if there are any sleevers here from "North of the Border" and/or any Pre-Ops going "South of the Border" namely to Juarez to see Dr. Rod in May 2013. I am super excited and can use all the info, tips and advise I can get!! :D:blink:

Hello fellow Albertans! I was born and raised in Lethbridge but now live in Virginia. I'm getting sleeved here on Monday. I wish you all the best of luck with your surgeries and travels. There seems to be a lot of great feedback on this site about Mexico so I'm sure all will be very successful ????

Thanks everyone for replying. It will be great to have some support! Dawnie, is your daughter being sleeved too or just coming with? I am going with my BF, and I dont know if I am mire nervous about the surgery or doing something disgusting around him! Haha. We want to hear all about it - it sounds like you are first in line in the group so far.

Ugh. Im starting my "detox" phase this week. Absolutely no junk food and no caffiene. Next week I drop the carbs, then the two weeks after pre-op with protien and fruit, and the final week liquid Protein made with fruit. I want to be really prepared and have a nice lean lovely liver!

Of course I HAD to choose a day to loose the caffeine after my 2 year old had me up at 5 am!!! (Which he NEVER does). Again, I say... Ugh.

JillianMarie,

I gave up PEPSI first.....Then Coffee...that was a hard one. But I replaced it with Decaf (tassimo) and put Unjury chocolate protien in it instead of cream and sugar and it taste like cafe mocha sooo good...Day 4 of pre-op...doing good so far. Trying to get all my Water in. The surgeon called last night and we chatted. I still can't believe I am actually going to be in Mexico in 10 days... :D

Super exciting Dawnie!! What part of MX are you going to? I am going to Juarez, and it sounds as though my poor BF wont be able to venture to far from the hospital...

What is this unjury chocolate protien you speak of? Where does a girl get it?

Ashleep, how about you - what part of MX will you be visiting?

Simone - how did it go!?!?!

Jillian,

I am going to Guadalajara with Dr. Joffe from Ambi www.ambisurgery.com

www.unjury.com the protien powder is awesome!!! My girlfriend went through this a couple of years ago and lost 200 lbs. she had used some of this 21 g Protein no fat, no sugar, carbs 4g....

They have a chicken Soup one...that helps after surgery (they say) as sometimes it is hard to get your Protein in...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
