Hi! I'm new to this site and in the Pre op phase. I'm going to be having my surgery by Dr. Hassan in Cleveland through St. Vincent Charity Hospital. I'm so ready for a new life. I'm only 22 years old and have been overweight literally since the age of 2. I have no idea what it's like to be normal! July will be month 3/6 for my pre op visits. Anyone have Molina?

Hi there....just had the sleeve surgery Tuesday June 17 at the Cleveland Clinic. Any other Clinic folks out there?

Hi! I am having mine done at the clinic but still in preop stage! Who was your surgeon? How was the hospital stay? I'm nervous but excited looking at a early December surgery date hopefully!

Sorry....just seeing this now.Dr. Rogula is my surgeon. Hospital stay was outstanding. Lots of great nurses and caregivers. Even the cleaning crew is friendly. It was a 2 day stay (Tuesday surgery and home Thursday around noon). I could have gone home Wednesday night but family was busy so I just stayed and slept and watched a movie. Feel free to ask questions. Good luck!

How are you feeling? Finally received my approval from insurance today! Took a bit longer than I expected. I will be at Mt. Carmel West. I should be getting my surgery date within the next couple of days.

I am doing very well. I have been controlling the pain with just Tylenol for the last two days. I hate the percocets anyway. No complications. No surprises. My lap sites are starting to get itchy...lol. Overall a very positive experience.

That is awesome to hear. Glad to hear that your pain is minimal. Did you have sleeve or lap band? How are you doing with your diet? Are you on full liquids still?

I has the sleeve. I would personally never consider the band... Too high of a failure rate from what I understand. The program requires full liquids for two weeks post op. Then can move up to thicker, pudding consistency type fluids for another week. Then to soft foods like grounds meats. Full regular diet including eating nuts doesn't come until after 8 weeks post op.

Yeah, that is why I opted for sleeve vs lap band. Good luck to you!

Mhenne97, our surgery dates should be pretty close to each other. Renee just called me yesterday with an August 13th date! I do my pre-op testing and meet again with Dr. Page on August 7.

I'm getting very excited! And congrats to you.

I sure hope. I am ready to get this show on the road. My insurance took forever to provide approval due to not receiving all of their needed paperwork. Not too happy about that. Needless to say it all finally worked out. Galad you got your date. Wouldn't that be something if we were scheduled around tje same time. I would live it. I will keep you updated - praying I hear something tomorrow.

Have they told you how long to expect to be out of work? Renee told me 6 weeks. I asked if she thought there would be any way I'd be ready at 4 weeks and she said I'd have to talk to Dr. Page. Just wondering how set in stone he is.

I expected 6 weeks from the beginning. I had a friend who returned after 4 weeks who had her surgery at Mt. Carmel. She said she was exhausted and wish she would have done her full six. I think it varies by person.

4-6 weeks is a long time to be out for this unless you have a physically demanding job. I was back in a week no problem.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
