What happens when you eat chocolate?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering what happens to your system when you eat real chocolate. I ate some chocolate easter eggs today and hours later I was very nauseous and felt terrible for about an hour. I quess I thought if I had a reaction to eating something I shouldn't it would happen right away and wondering if anyone else has a delayed reaction. You don't have to tell me I shouldn't have ate them I know that already, I am just wondering if the two things are connected or a coincidence.

Connected! It happened to me too. It also happens to me with other sweets it they are over the top. I am almost cured forever. I actually forgot I could not eat that stuff anymore and put a Peep in my mouth and remembered as soon as I closed my mouth. I had to run and spit it out where I couldn't be seen.

Like I said almost cured. LOL

I had a coconut popsicle the other day, about 10 minutes after I started feeling sick. I've had a very minute bit of chocolate, just to see how it makes me feel, no issues from it.

I can eat a small amount of chocolate . Like two pieces of Dove Dark. Without any problems, only now one or two pieces satifies the craving.

Why shouldn't you have eaten a piece of chocolate on Easter?! That's kinda what happens on Easter. Anyway, I have chocolate almost every day. Usually a piece of dove dark chocolate or two. But I also have a couple bites of whatever dessert is ordered at dinner. It doesn't affect me at all. If it affects you...sounds like it did... then it should be easy to avoid it if that's what you want to do.

When I eat chocolate the gates of Heaven open and I get a glimpse of Paradise while I delight in the sweet music of harps played by the angels themselves...

Goes without saying that I stay away from the stuff as much as I can. Had surgery in September of last year and tried chocolate in December. No problems whatsoever. I've had it since now and then and it goes down fine. Unfortunately...

I'm with Zazous...and I love sweet music :P

But that said, I'm also trying to supliment my calories so I have a piece or two daily and it does not bother me. That said, if I have more than a couple of pieces it makes me feel ill.

Early out I tried a Protein bar and had the same reaction as you did to the chocolate. It takes our body time to get comfortable with some foods, and sometimes it never does. I'm glad I can have a taste of chocolate but that if I overdo (lol 3 bites) I feel badly. It's good regulation for that whole Portion Control thingie :P

Well maybe if I would have stuck to a couple bites I would have been okay but stopping has always been a problem for me so for now I guess I will have to stay away from sweets. If I can remember how miserable I was it shoulfd be easy!

Glad to know that down the road I may be able to have a bite or two of chocolate. A life without any chocolate would be sad. :(

If you are going to have chocolate ( good for you!!), try to eat dark and pure chocolate. The expensive stuff!! The reason is because it will be low sugar and still be satisfying. The cheap chocolate tends to have a lot of sugar and milk in it, both which can cause issues post op, especially for newer sleevers.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
