April 2006 Bandits December Challenge

Recommended Posts

Wow, you don't check in for a while and people break their noses!!!:faint: Boo, what a freak accident:omg: ....glad your starting to feel better. Are you going to need surgery to fix it?

Kat, your poem was a riot:biggrin1:

Julie hope you get home safe. It is nice to visit, but there really isn't any place like HOME!

Went to see Dreamgirls last night with a few girlfriends, it was very good. Jennifer Hudson has some voice! We are invited to some friends house tomorrow night. I hope I don't wake up with a Migraine Monday like last week.

Did 3 mile walk with DH.

Betty: I can't wait to join you in onederland! I honestly can not remember the last time I was "one something"....oh yes I can! It was after some MAJOR surgery and I had been deathly ill for several months. I went down to 170/165 from about 205. Funny, I forgot all about that . Interestingly I chose that number for my goal weight. Our subconscious mind is really something. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!

Here's to ONEDERLAND IN 2007!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Yes, I am bruised. Big knob on the bridge and two black eyes. When it happened, I thought I was going to pass out, then started crying. No one was near me, (so no witness.) The swelling has gone down a lot, but the nose is crooked. The doctor has to look at it next week, after swelling is gone to see what needs to be done.

I can't imagine how I would feel if it were NOT an accident! So, in that regard, I feel blessed.

I saw "Dreamgirls" last night, too! I thought Jennifer Hudson ruled the show.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! BEST WISHES FOR A NEW YEAR OF HEALTH, HAPPINESS, PROSPERITY, AND PERSONAL FULFILLMENT!

Which for us must surely include the lifestyle changes that allow us to reach our weight-loss goal and experience life anew as we embrace daily exercise and make wise food choices.

I haven't posted in a week because, of all things, my computer died on Christmas Day! Good outcome though, it was covered by an Apple extended warranty and I got it back yesterday.

The holiday season has been over-the-top for me. I admit, I'm the Queen of Christmas, but this year was exceptionally busy: 20 guests for a traditional sit-down dinner on Christmas Day; another 20 for a second dinner on Boxing Day; and a dinner party for 10 on the day after that. A total of 50 extravagant meals served in three days and all available beds claimed by houseguests (until Thursday)! Did I refrain from all the delectable goodies? Nope. Did I exercise? Nope. Oh dear, I GAINED three pounds and finished one day short of the December challenge.

OTOH, I gained ONLY three pounds from all the happy overindulgence, and my total exercise for December was good indeed, including 28 individual sessions. And I'll be back to a daily regimen starting tomorrow, with a special yoga class on New Year's Day.

So all in all, I'm a happy camper and now looking forward with great anticipation to the moderation, abstinence and tranquility of January. Or as Kat's poem says, "But isn't that what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot, Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!"

April Bandits December Challenge: SIXTEEN days of exercise completed (28 individual sessions of 35 min. or more)

Hi all, here is my last post I guess for the December challenge, I have been good here in Atlanta with my food intake and have been running/walking for one hour plus most days.......I asked for one of those rubber bands that you can tone up with, and I have been doing exercises with that! Probably had too much wine in this festive season, but hey, gotta have some vices and I don't have many left hehehe!!!!

I signed myself up for speed-dating, it went ok, I will write more about it in the Jan challenge, and I have a date back home in NZ when I get back there from this holiday.......

So what are all our New year resolutions?

XX Amourette!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
