Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Congrats, o dorky one, on the promotion and the award and the fantastic prize! So sorry about the home repair, though. I'd probably  if that happened to me.

I reported coloradocrazy to the mods, because it's fishy and I really get the suspicion that she's recruiting or something. That's probably why losingjusme stopped by. It's really sad that people have to be that way. That's the first time she's started a whole thread just to libel Dr. K. :tt2:

Hurray to everyone in the Labor Day Challenge! Doesn't look like I'll meet my goal...sigh...but hey, I am still losing so what-ever!

good job, Green, on reporting the crazy woman.

Adork: thumbs up on the promotion, prize, etc.

Roof repairs, obviously:thumbdown: We have a slight problem with a leak right now, but nothing like yours. Good luck on that.

Great pix, ladies, wish i could be there some time to meet y'all. Maybe someday.

Just got back from another casino run with the folks. Gawd, they love it! i got up at 2:45 this morning and we were off by 4; home by 2 with about 6 and a half hours of gambling in between. Whew....:tt2:

Am moving into soft food now. How does cottage cheese work for you guys? I had scrambled eggs with tabasco at casino this morning; gotta say not drinking Water while eating is going to be tough for me:bored:

Cottage cheese was one of my staples. Yes, the not drinking water thing is really tough, and sometimes I just forget and the next thing I know I've been chugging down water with my meal. Argh. I think it's just a habit issue, but it's a tough one.

Your folks sound fun. Not sure about that 2:45 AM thing though.

They are a hoot. Always have been.

I figure I can get up that time once a month to keep them from getting behind the wheel and driving one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in Oregon. It is known as Blood Alley from all headon deaths. I get to spend a good twelve hours with them and it puts a plus in my "good daughter" column. Of course, I am their only daughter, their only child actually. What are they gonna do? Disown me:tt2:

Heehee! Which casino do you take them to?

Zumba kicked my arse tonight. There was an anesthesiologist from the hospital behind me in the class and I told her I was glad she was there so she could resuscitate me when I keeled over. Not sure how it is going to be on my plantar fascitis, it is already hurting more than it has been the previous few weeks, so I will see how it is in the morning.

Seriously though, it was kind of fun. I am just woefully out of shape!

I am trying the spinning class tomorrow if I can drag my lazy butt out of bed! I am NOT a morning person! :cursing:

Ok ladies, seriously, with all the drama going on in my life with the soon to be ex, money issues, neighbor issues, and my fill doc being a jackass, I am in a serious FUNK. I can usually pull myself out within a few days (and working out usually helps) but nothing seems to be doing the trick this time. I hate feeling pissed off all the time like this-it is soooo not me.

We go to Spirit Mt., which is between Salem and Lincoln City.

that's what I figured. I HATE that road. Sometimes if we fly into Portland we'll take that route to the coast. I'm always freaked out by the number of memorial crosses on the side of the road. I hate the road from Eugene to florence as well.

I'm sorry Munchkin. I think you have every right to feel pissed off, but it's not a good state to stay in for long periods. Would a warm bath help? Or a good book? Or a snuggle with your puppies? Or a LARGE martini?

Prty, thanks for snapping that photo of us at the Red Robin! That was fun, and it was great to meet you all.

My pre-op appointment with Dr. K was this morning. All went well, so I am ready to go next Wednesday.

I am getting a little tired of Jello instead of fruit, but am hanging in there with the pre-op diet.

Oh sweetie. Sorry you are in a funk. They are the worst. I am sending you a giant smile and lots of huggies!!!    If you need to talk... call my. My cell is on the phone list.

* * * *

Thanks all for the congrats.

Our roof situation has taken another weird turn. Long story short, my claims adjuster from my insurance company totally slandered the owner of the restoration company we have working on our house right now. What he didn't know as he was mouthing off to me on the phone (totally floored me the shit he was saying to someone who he doesn't even know), was that the owner is a friend of mine.

So I called my friend, he called his attorney, his attorney called me, and tomorrow morning when the claims adjuster comes out I am going to tape record our conversation (legal in AZ) so my friend can hopefully start legal actions against him for slander. Guess there is some long history there. Don't know... not sure I care. Really don't want to get involved but I am stuck in the middle.

I just want my house fixed. *sigh*

Here are a few pictures of our lovely walls... or lack of them. Ha ha. The paint peeling was my first inkling something was up!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
