Well I turned up the exercise and watched my eating some more and I lost 3 lbs this week! I will have to be very careful since I start teaching summer school on Monday. I have a tendency to focus on that only and forget to watch what I'm doing otherwise.

Well...I'm just down 1 lb this week. I'm happy with that. I feel I didn't do as well as I could have.

I've been having a sharp pain on my left side just under my ribs. It hurts when I breathe in deep or sneeze. I called Natalie to talk to her about it and I'm trying some motrin for a week to see if it helps. I'm thinking (hoping) it's a pulled muscle or bruised rib or something of that nature. Anyone else have this type of pain?

I also enrolled in a belly dancing class that starts July 8th!!! Woohooo...I'm sooooo excited! I've always wanted to take a class and now I feel good about myself and ready for a different type of FUN exercise!

Hope all are doing well!

Well, girls, I just finished doing an "Evelyn Wood" scan of the last 30 pages of post since I have been gone...sheesh...it took over an hour!!

jill: welcome...i,too, haven't had surgery and won't until aug. 19, but this site is a haven (and it is also heaven). you will be soooo happy that you have entered this domain.

mini, dee, shelbi (and others): thanks so much for the reassuring comments about my experience in Mexico. i do so appreciate the idea of thinking of it as the LAST trip like that.

mini, i also think "in a year, i will be able to...." i find myself daydreaming about it.

i hope i don't gain too much in the weeks following surgery as i had hoped to lose at least 20 lbs. or so before my ceremony on Oct. 11.

I want to congratulate all of you who had great weight losses this past 10 days or so.

Welcome back to a few whose names I had seen briefly before their absenteeism.

Brandy, thank the goddess that you are feeling better (and, mini, thanks for the head's up in your message to me)

Lap, great Kathy Griffin-like response to airlines and their stewards!

Dee, I have to agree with the others about your ex. Forget it. Men have no clue that their daily or weekly "just friends" chats are not acceptable, particularly after they have betrayed you. Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke!! you are too good for him and most of the other male population, I have no doubt!!

Well, guess I will quit my rant here and go out and enjoy the heat wave we are FINALLY having here in Portland: 95 today and tomorrow!

Tied - I'm down another lb. One measly lb., but it's not up! AND it's not stable! So all's good! Total loss 6 lbs. Hey, when is our 10 weeks up? I can't remember when we started.

On August 2nd, the day of the BBQ. Doesn't seem like it's 5 weeks away, does it? But it is! I better get moving here or I'll be left behind!

Once when I was in my senior year in Nursing School, I did my senior practicum at a Psyc hospital. During group the MD said, "Is there anything else anyone wants to discuss?" All the patients just sat there - then this one woman raised her hand and said, "I think that student nurse shouldn't be a nurse!" I thought, "oh no! what did I do?" The MD said, "Why would you say that?" you could see the fear on his face, not knowing what she was going to say -- and she blurted out, "I think she'd make a great Belly Dancer!" The doctor replied, "Well, that's a great observation!" I wondered what meds she was on! AND I wished every man in the world would get some! Because in her eyes, I was a hottie!

Such good memories!

Mini- Yes that makes 20 lbs lost! That's pretty exciting.

I wonder if I'll have school clothes for Monday. My students may get pretty tired of seeing me in the same clothes for 4 weeks. I hope to lose more before school starts in August so I hate to buy more now. I've been this size for so long that I have only 2 or 3 items that are smaller. I was really without any hope of losing much until I had the band.

But I have an added blessing and that's finding all of you!

Dee-

That's awesome! We get some great stories from nursing huh??

I had a really cute guy with dementia last night (well, he was cute when he wasn't trying to hit us!). He finally announced to everyone that I was a "real wiseass". Heh heh, sometimes those dementia patients are right on the money!!

And for my weigh in....I am on a roll with another BIG FAT NOTHING lost!! Woo hoo! Like I said last week, at least I haven't gained, which would not have surprised me with how poorly I have been eating. I go for a fill Monday also! Phew!!

:(:) @ Mal -- I absolutely think that we should blame "office TOM" for any weight gain!

:lol::lol:@ Dee -- I know those "working girl" scrubs all too well. My sexiest ones had jelly Beans printed on them ~~ and probably some in the pockets, too, back then .

Congrats you bunch of losers!!!!!!!!!! You know who you are!

Ami -- Belly dancing, SO COOL! I hope the Motrin does the trick -- keep us posted.

SidAnn -- One word = AWESOME!

LA -- Thanks for the Protein calorie list -- another great find!

Mini -- Pack your bags, woman! It's almost time!

5 weeks left!! I think I'm down a total of 7 (help me with my math Dee), which means I've got to get my fanny perpendicular and crank it up to get 13 off in 5 weeks. Let's go peeps! We can do this!!

Deb~

We went on a cruise about 18 months ago, and I was huge. The biggest that I have ever been. On that vacation, I vowed, that I would never, ever let myself feel that way on vacation again. That meant if I lost weight or not, I didn't want to feel that way.

Needless to say, the next vacation we go on, will rock!!! The band is seriously going to be the BEST thing you have ever done!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
