Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Crud, what a mess. I don't understand the whole amount thing either. I never have the same amount from one fill to the next. And the guy who does my fills refers to "net amount" because a certain amount stays in the tube, etc. Let us know what ends up happening. I KNOW I read somewhere about some sort of "flat tire" stuff they could inject that can seal a small leak . . . maybe search on the site about leaks or something?

Thanks Mini, Dr. K said the "dead space" is .8 cc. He accounted for that in his findings so who knows. I'm not really as concerned with the leak possibility as I am something being wrong with my band. If it slipped or was unlatched (same thing as slipped) as he first thought, would I still be feeeling restriction? I'm not really sure what the signs of a slip are.

I have no idea. I think lots of vomiting and such, but I"m not sure. Argh. You must be soooo worried.

OK ladies, question. How long after surgery until you could take a deep breath without a pain in the center of your chest? It's not a sharp pain, but it's pain. This happens when I sigh, breathe deeply for a yawn, or when I sniffle (like my nose is running and I quick SNIFF to get it not to...does that make sense?). The pain lasts as long as I'm breathing in, so during a yawn, it lasts a good 3secs. Any ideas? I'm on Day 6.

I would say a couple of weeks.

Thank goodness! I like that answer much better than "Something might be wrong...."

For me it was a good 2-3 weeks.

I just looked it up and you're right, vomiting and tightness. With my luck I have a leak and a slip, ha, ha

Oh no, never!!! Dr. K is a wonderful surgeon with an excellent success rate. No chance! You're going to be fine! I bet you fly all the way out there in December and it turns out to be nothing.

By the way Deb (Tally), what day are you returning to CO? I'm going on the 5th for my first fill.

Well, as of right now I have to be there on the 10th to meet him at Crown Point and then the 11th (for now) I am scheduled for surgery.

After one day I was fine, so sorry can't help on that one.

Okay, I have a question for those of you who are faster losers, rather than slooooowwww like me. I have been losing MUCH faster since I started taking Metformin 10 days ago (4.5 lbs in 10 days vs 4 lbs in a month). Anyhoo, I haven't changed my Fluid intake or my calories or anything, but I have been urinating like crazy. Does this mean that I am just losing Water and soon I will go back to the slooowwwww loss? Or do you urinate a lot when you're losing weight quickly? Hope that question made sense. It seems to me, since the byproducts of fat metabolism are water and carbon dioxide, it would increase your urine output. But maybe I'm completely wrong. I'm just scared that I'll lose 5 or 6 lbs of water then go back to my 1/2 lb a week or whatever.

So I am really desperate for a ride from and to the airport on Thursday. Since land at 1:30 have my appointment at 2:30 and then fly out at 5, the super shuttle won't take me to the airport after 2:15. Stupid supershuttle. I will gladly pay gas money. I am just running out of options. I can try to rent a car, but because I am not 25 yet the extra fees are ridiculous!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
