Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

Recommended Posts

Im 8 weeks out. I have fibromyalia, ostioarthritis , sleep apnea, high blood pressure... I don't take the Mobic because of possibly damage to my tummy and seem to be doing well, however , i havent started teaching my 4 year olds yet! I have been able to drop one of my blood pressure MEDS because it was too low. I'm hoping to get rid of the cpap and take less cymbolta for the fibro. It's always a balancing act.

I guess maybe I am one with just a few things going on...I'm on bp meds, and just started Lipitor for cholesterol. I have pretty severe RA tho and am on Cimzia injections along with the methotrexate. My Rheumatologist is hoping that this surgery will at least take some of the stress off the joints and maybe make my meds work better.......

I hope it helps. Pain is such a nasty thing to have to deal with. People who are not on pain don't understand. I've been in pain every day since I was 11 (1962 ). I was run over by a dump truck. Since then I've been in a head-on collision and rear ended by a semi. You could say my body is a reck. I take three different pain MEDS and hope the weight loss will help get me off some of those. I think that's why I get so frustrated when it comes off so slow!! I like want it gone by morning!!

I'm feeling pretty good. Got rid of 2 MEDS, have more energy, rarely feel hungry. I start teaching 4 year olds in a week. So the jury is still out regarding how I feel on the job. I'm going to miss my naps!!

Hello all! I will be 2 weeks post-op tomorrow, and I am starting to feel a lot of pain/aches in my hands, feet, knees, etc. A pretty severe flare for me. :( I see the PA for my follow up on Wednesday, so hopefully I will find out when I can go back on my arthritis medications. My immune system was working "correctly" for almost two weeks...now, not so much. Ouch!

Oh man, I have been doing so good these past few weeks. Yesterday I had a horrible lupus flare and then it happened again today. My RA is also acting up. I wish so bad I could take a methotrexate shot, but I can't.

I know what you mean. When my fibro flares up its all i can do to get out of bed in the morning. Are there alternative things to do? Relaxation, ice, heat, stretching...anything that helps with the pain? Any other MEDS for a temporary fix? Hopefully you will be able to relax some. Of course there's always exercise

(Yea, right!). I've found that as I lose weight, the pain is not as bad. Hopefully that will be the case with you.

I've been using heat right now for the RA. I just don't know what to do for the lupus, nothing helps. It's just miserable!!!

I'm not sure what medical message is?

It's what medical massage is after autocorrect gets a hold of it I think :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
