Too much or not enough?

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on January 30th. In the morning I have about 8 oz of Protein Shake. Sometimes less than 2 scrambled eggs. For lunch I usually have 3 cheese sticks and around 8 wheat thins. For dinner about 4 oz chicken/fish/pork/hamburger. Then about 8 oz of Protein shake before bed. Usually getting about 40-60 oz of Water a day. Is this too much? Not enough? About right? I have been losing a couple lbs a week but gained 4/10 of a pound since Sunday.

For me at less than two months I could barely eat one scrambled egg or cheese string or 2 ounces of soft meat/fish at a time. I would drink 4 ounces of Protein Shake at a time and then a few hours later have the rest. I guess that you are male so maybe your stomach is larger/longer that allows you to eat more.

Everyone is different. If your doctors are happy with your progress and you are still losing then keep doing what you are doing!

I am 6"2. As I said I have lost every week. Have not had any stalls. Was losing a pound a day until a few weeks ago when it started to be about 3 lbs a week.

My Nut made me cut out Protein Shakes, I could only have them as Meal Replacements. I can only have 3 meals a day.

What? Did they say why? I understand the object is to get as much Protein from whole foods etc, but made you cut them out completely? Some people are so anti Protein powder it boggles my mind.

Cartman if you're losing, you're doing just fine my friend. If you're getting your protein, and making sure you're getting in your nutrients and you're feeling fine, you're doing it right.

Weight loss is going to slow down as time goes on. My opinion is you are doing just fine. Next time you go to the dr talk to the NUT and ask her to go over your eating plan and maybe she can help you adjust it if need be.

I'm 6 weeks out, and what you eat is comparable to what I eat, though I can only eat 1 scrambled egg at a meal. The only thing that sounds a little on the low side is your Water. Are you counting your Protein Drinks in with that? If so, I would try to get that number up to a minimum of 64 oz of liquid a day.

That all looks pretty good , nice job! I am 15 months out one scrambled egg is all I can fit comfortably. I still drink 2-4 Protein Drinks a day. One whey 30 grams when I wake and one casein 30 grams at bed every day. Plus a pre and post workout about 30 grams each.

I should rephrase that. I usually cook two scrambled eggs and end up giving one to the dog. The liquids is just Water. I try to do 60 oz a day but dont get that many most days. I left out about 12 oz of coffee a day with a couple oz of light cream and 3 splenda. For dinner tonight I grilled .65 lb of salmon and ate about half of it. I am wondering if it is muscle I am putting on because I went back to work and am more active. Like I said, have not stalled and have lost every week so I think I am doing pretty good. Just curious. I called my NUT today to check with her but she was not in the office.

At an informational meeting, they told us that for every cup of coffee you drink, you need to drink 2 cups of Water to make up for its diuretic effects!

However, with the 3 shakes, your liquid intake sounds fine to me, too - seems like you're doing just fine!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
