weekly scale challenge

Thanks Miss Betty... I feel a little out of the loop... guess the forum doesn't stop just because I am busy playing hostess for the holiday! I am turning into a domestic wife-type... frightening. :D

Glad to be back aboard!

DeLarla, I promise not to go to Numero Uno pizzeria without you! There, I've just saved myself from one of many food temptations.

Let me think about this Chicago bash for awhile. . . I guess there are enough of us in the area to pull it off, and there are relatively cheap flights available to O'Hare and Midway for any durn foreigners. We'd have to do it when the weather's better, or all those Texas roses would freeze! Maybe next summer?

OK, I'll start a new thread so this one can get back to the scale challenge.

Zoe, Penni has a next bash thread. I think it is sticky, so should be at the top of someplace. :D

Welcome back, Darcy. How was your Thanks-Christmas? Hope you had a great time with you family. Did you get your quilts done in time? Sorry about your gain; I had one too. :ermm

I hope you are feeling better, Margie. I've been lying low, too, with an irritated esophagus. I think it is on the way to normal now. I really have to watch the amount I eat, or I pay big time. OUCH! Well, onward and downward! :)

Hi guys. Looks like you all have been doing a wonderful job. Well, I contacted my doctor about my pregnancy and he is going to leave the fillin until mid-Jan. unless I can't keep anything down. Both my ob/gyn an "regular" doctor want me to keep a close eye on my weight. The more I gain the worse my diabetes will be. My ob/gyn asked if the entire fill could stay in to control my weight.

Great job Natalie! Keep up the good work! I'm right behind you. I am hoping to make it to 219 by Monday. I'm crossing my fingers and exercising my butt off literally!

Betty,You are doing great. I'm sure you are probably becoming one Buff Babe ;-)with all that exercising and with the weight you have already lost! Good luck on your fill wed.

Way to go Michelle! That is terrific loss! Happy Bandiversary to you!

ONE pound for me this week. BUT- It's probably more like 2-3 because I am "swole up like a toad" for some reason today. My hands are so puffy that I can't bend my fingers and my ankles are swollen, too. I don't usually have this problem. I wonder if it's because I didn't drink enough Water yesterday or something?

For now, I will be happy with the pound, drink some green tea(I've heard that helps with Fluid retention), and look forward to a good drop in weight next week.

Well no weight loss this week but a loss of 1/2 inches off both neck and waist.

since only 4 pound loss since 11/04 Dr has me coming in on Dec/17 for my third fill. I have had 1.5 cc put in so far. Also he had my daily calorie intake reduced from 1600 to 1400. That will help. But the change in inches but no weight loss is probably due to the increase in excersing I have taken up since the Holiday Challenge. I can live with this.

Michelle, My 4 month anniversary is this coming Friday -72 for me also.

Off to Vegas this afternoon with my son. Going to have to be very very careful there with my restrictions open wider then I want. But Will power and lots of walking should help.

Lisa I'll call you for our mini-bash lunch if you can still make it.

Ok Harrahs here I come lossen up them slots Baby needs new shoes

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
