Hi...I'm a newbie

Hi y'all! My name is Amber. I have been over weight for as long as I can remember. I have tried every diet imaginable and have failed. Diabetes runs in my family, and I am pre-diabetic. I want to be healthy and watch my niece and nephew grow up. I don't want to walk around and be out of breath within the first 2 feet. I want my joints to be pain free. I want to be able to run and play with the kids and not have to sit out because I can't keep up.

I know these are a lot of wants, but I am tired of being over weight. I finally took a step in the right direction...I am going to an info session on the 19th of April. I am excited and nervouse and ready for a change all rolled into one.

I have heard a lot of different things about WLS...some good and some bad. I have had some really close friends have it done, and they have done wonderful on it. I guess since I am a newbie, I am bound to be scared.

Anyways...that's my rant/intro for now. Thank you for the great info on this site...I look forward to learning a lot between now and the time I take the plunge!!

God Bless and best of luck to everyone!! :)

Welcome Amber! I was only sleeved two weeks ago, but I've been around here on this board since November. I started my weight loss journey at a similar BMI as you (I was 360 pounds with a 60 BMI!) and I decided on VSG when I was 335 pounds I am two weeks post op and am so happy with my decision so far. Stick around here and learn as much as you can. I learned soooo much from the folks here at VST and there haven't been any "surprises" during my recovery process.

Hi there! Thanks for the reply and encouraging words!

;)Congrats on getting sleeved! How are you doing?

I am trying to gather as much info as I can before I really decide to go on with getting the surgery. As I said in my intro, I am going on the 19th to the info session at the hospital. I am looking foward to that big time!! The more info I can get, the better I feel :)
