APPROVED....but have a question

Recommended Posts

Today I was approved and I am scheduled for April 3rd....I know ........ only a week from this Wednesday!

I have not told my brothers or my father about my surgery because our family has been through a lot lately. One of the many issues is my stepmother has been in the hospital for 5 weeks and won't be out until mid April...then has to go back in for a bone marrow transplant shortly after. She has a very aggressive form of cancer and my father has so much on his mind already!

I am not worried about my brothers or father being judge mental. I just truly don't want to add another stressor considering all that is going on. On the other hand, if something goes wrong, I would feel bad that I didn't tell them...just in case.

I have my husband and mothers support so I'm not worried about support. Again, I feel there is so much going on that I should maybe wait until things have calmed down.

Anybody have any thoughts?

You should tell them. Family should always be honest with each other in case something happens.

I agree. You should tell them because if the situation were reversed, you would want to know. When you tell them, let them know that you have support and not to worry about you.

Don't wait. Your health and happiness are important, especially to your family. Be honest with them.

I think you should tell them-I told my mom, husband, and two children.

My mom is the most encouraging.

I do not plan to tell any friends yet. I am afraid of all the questions and the daily updates on what can I do and how much have you lost.

I an nervous as my surgery is April 17.

Lots of "what ifs" and looking for support from fellow sleevers.

The question comes right back to you. How do you feel. You know your family we do not. How would they take it and can they handle more. If you believe they sould not handle it and they surgery can wait then postpone it. If you are in pain and need it for pain magament then I say go with it. Is your stepmother able to handle this infomation. Is so maybe talk to her and see how she feel. Either choice you go with I wish you the very best.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
