I went through reliant medical group. ST. Vincent's is also called Worcester medical center. I went to the very first meeting July 2013. And my surgery is scheduled July 24 th 2014, But I didn't really start the program until September and I had some Vitamin deficiencies I had to take care of first.

How are you doing? Feeling? How long did it take you from first appt to surgery? I BCBS of MA and they don't have any pre-op requirements. I know UMass/Memorial has months worth

I'm from Oxford, MA but living in New Bedford for over 25 years. Sleeved 7/1/13 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. My surgeon was Dr. Kruger. One year out, and only 1 lb from my goal weight. Very happy with my sleeve!

Hi, Jen! My dad's family is all from Dudley--my sister just moved from Dudley to Texas last week, and she's a Jen too. :)

I'm doing alright! It's a tough stage for me since I really dislike Soups, broths of any kind and Protein shakes/shakes in general. I'm basically living off of food that I absolutely can't stand. Other than that I'm doing OK. Honestly the gas pain is the worst for me, but walking around as much as you can really allieviates it. Every day I wake up and feel like I'm inching toward feeling better.

First appointment to surgery was about a year. It wasn't my hospitals requirements, but my health insurance. I needed to complete a program with Nutrition as well as with behavioral medicine involving group meetings and single meetings. At first it was annoying to have to jump through so many hoops, but now I am so grateful to that program. Without it there is no way I would have been prepared for what it's like after surgery. I'm still struggling, even with all the knowledge I have from sleevers in my group.

As for the hospital, I didn't really choose it, it was chosen for me, but it would have been my preferred hospital regardless. I had a great experience witha speedy overnight recovery and was able to go home the next day.

You will have to send me some names see if I know them. My brother is a full time paramedic for Dudley as well. Everyone knows him.

Wow, thanks so much for all the info. Im So glad you are doing so well. I am dreading the liquid diet as well. I can't stand Water and Protein shakes... Blahhhh!

I know I keep wanting to rush this but I know I have to get my brain in a better place. I am such an emotional eater. Keep in touch!

:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
