Ok so I'm about 5 1/2 weeks post op and 2 weeks away from a normal diet. My question that as of late my full feeling has seemed to vanished. I kind of limit my food intake on my own. Just curious as to why I feel I can eat away. I'm not really hungry at all.

are you eating solids yet? When I was first sleeved I was super scared because I could eat boat loads of food. But I was only on liquids and soft solids. Once I got on solid protein.....wow forget it! I hit "slime city" slimes and tons of restriction and this lasted a good four months until I learned how to eat. You will never feel "full" like you felt before also, you will feel tightness and restriction but not "full" you have to pay attention to other stuff like running nose, hiccups and such. Your ghrelin was removed with your tummy so satiety and hunger messages to the brain do not get sent because ghrelin is responsible for sending those messages:) You very well might be full and not realize it. With time you will learn how to gauge everything correctly and understand your new eating habits. It took me a good six months to be fully adjusted. I hope that helps:)

and one more thing....some people end up with a longer sleeve....depending on how your stomach is structured so if it's longer then the food will slide quicker and you can squeeze in a bit more....they say you won't know this until after six months but you might be one of those people who has a longer stomach:) Even still, however it should restrict you enough to give you the weight loss results you desire.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
