Is there anyone on herr that regrets having the sleeve or if they could go back in time, would not have it done? Just curious really.

I am opting for sleeve & just wanting to have all info--- the good, the bad & the ugly. I have recently loaded 'Sleeved Life' ebook but haven't started it yet.

Met with surgeon early in month

Appt for psych eval & mtg with dietician next week... So on my way to a sleeved life!! :)

I regret it today, but I would do it all over again. Today has just been a difficult day for me dealing with my food addiction, but I know overall I will beat this!

...I had it done 3/6...I have regretted it every day. I absolutely cannot do the shakes; I am fearful of getting sick due to this & losing my hair. I can't afford to keep trying this brand & that brand. My soon-to-be monthly payment regarding this surgery is now weighing on my mind too...I have insurance, but I will be out about $1700 total...and at the time, I felt it was well worth it, but now...I am not so sure...I've lied to family & friends about this surgery and even missed out on a couple of dates...so I am probably hell bound now, too.

...everybody keeps saying wait til I can actually eat things like eggs, toast, etc...that I will feel a thousand times better about my sleeve. I hope they are right.

I wish you the best of luck. Please please think about all aspects of it...the good, the bad, the ugly...from every angle, before you do it.

As of right now, no way would I do it again...I hope a month from now...I am saying the total opposite...Time will only tell...again, good luck!

luckysmomma, I can't stand the drinks either and I'm tired of spending money buying different brands. I've kinda given up on them. One thing I can force down is the Gladiator smoothie at Smoothie King it has 45 grams of Protein and you can pick your own two fruits and flavor Protein Powder. When can you switch to purees or soft foods?

UPRR Wifey - I am Peanut Butter & bananas this week...I think next week is when I can have toast, eggs, etc..and I absolutely cannot wait...I pray it makes a difference in me mentally about all this...because I am full of regrets about it currently. I mean, I am not hungry or even thirsty or even craved anything, but I miss my best friend, my good food...if that makes any sense.

My only REGRET is not doing this SOONER!

I am 11 weeks out now and I have had a smooth recovery, no hunger, no food intolerances and steady weightloss.

It's worth every penny of the $16K I spent to do this - and if I didn't lose 1 more pound, I'd still be estatic because there is no price tag for how great I feel physically.

It is hard in the beginning and the surgery itself was very painful for me. After all my ups and downs; downs and downs (which was a small amount of time in retrospect) I would go through the first month of hell over and over again. It has been almost 5 months and I would absolutely make the same decision again. I am proud of my accomplishments and my ability to be more active now that Im smaller. I am still far from my goal, but just knowing a french fry is going cause dumping keeps me away from all the junk i dont need. This is one of my safety nets that keeps me in line so I get to truely LIVE my life and raise my family.

P.S. im not a fast looser like most

Be patient with yourself stay away from the forums IF you feel pressure we all heal differently.....come back and join us when u dobt

yep, I have...I've tried several...I hate the smell, the texture, I've tried hot/cold, vanilla/chocolate, etc...

...If I could do 2 nasty shakes & a meal....I would have never needed this surgery is what I told my nut this week.

My goal is to find a unflavored, odorless Protein powder & start mixing it up with eggs, tuna, etc when I am able to have such things...

Well first I will say... it works! Then I will say I do regret doing it. But there's no going back, so I have to live with my decision. The diet is a pain, but not too big a deal. I'm just trying to get used to my meds and Vitamins, watching protien uptake. I do want to pass on something I wish someone had told me, Watch your sugar intake! I was using great tasing Protein shakes that had 28gms/per serving. My bathroom and I became close friends!

The bottom line here is... if it's going to save your life, do it! If you just think its an easy way to lose weight and keep it off... Go to weight watchers or eat Lean Cuisine!

Wow I've never really found anyone who truly regrets this surgery! I find it fascinating... What would you say that you didn't know going in?

And are you a low bmi? I ask because it might be quite a sacrifice if you only have a little to lose.

Oh, and I'm sleeved and I would not change a thing about my decision. It's hard and it doesn't cure any addictions you might have with food.

But it's giving me the time and space to work on those things.

I have no regrets. Best decision of my life. I will say tho, that the beginning stages after surgery was difficult. In lots of aspects, food hunger, cravings, missing food in general, uncomfy from surgery etc. But it was all worth it, every minute of it. I had a uneventful surgery, recovery went well, steady weight loss. I have a second lease on life and taking it all in.. Good Luck!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
