Hi everyone!!!!! My date has not yet been set. I see the Psych on Friday and then I need another sleep study because the last one was 6 years ago. After that I'm ready. I'm getting nervous now. Dr. Vollinger in Charlotte will be my surgeon. Did anyone else experience getting ready nervous by nit knowing what's next??

I sort of had the same experience... I was more anxious then nervous. The more appointments I went to the better I got. After that I was excited.

That doesn't mean I wasn't ever nervous! My date is March 26th and I did alot of back and forth with the idea of going through with it. My consult with my DR put my mind at ease and made me excited but it also blew my mind like "I'm doing this?!" It takes a bit to get used to the idea but eventually it'll get easier.

At the consult my doc told me to start scheduling my preop appointments and before I left her office they scheduled me with all of their appointments. So bascially I had appointments once a week for 2 months! It was an exciting ride for me.

Whatever your feeling is normal! Good luck to you!

I completely understand. It seems like every time I go to an appointment I end up walking out with two more appointments scheduled. I've got until August and I'm not really sure what all is left.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
