4 days post op! I want meat!!! Desperately! I can't stand these Protein supplements. I want to chew something! I thought it would be easier that this. Now I see how people end up back in the Er after downing a burrito. My hubby is back from the store with chicken fries, flaming hot Funyuns, hot dogs.. By no means a steak, but it feels that way right now. Lord please let that food aversion kick in soon or I will be doomed!!

Get out of the house! You need to be away from the sight and smells of food.

Find something to do that will keep your mind off being hungry.

Focus on weight loss. You are where you are for a reason. Think about where you want to be and how to get there.

Grab a magazine filled with skinny people and think about how they stay that way.

Umm, that's all I got right now. Talk to me if you need to!! Do anything but eat that food. It will hurt you in more ways then one.

Thanks! I am trying. I can't get around much and have no where to go. I did go in my room and closed the door. I still here the oven peeping. I just thought it would be easier.

Smells aren't bad. It's just in my head, I know! But I hate everything in this stage. I would kill for a boiled egg or some tuna right now.

Stop thinking about food! Read a good book, one where no one eats. :)

I snuck a crumb of my daughter chick-fil-a nugget and it immediately made my stomach turn. It was literally a crumb. I tried to purée some Mac and cheese and took one bite then threw it away. It was disgusting. I know it's in my mind. But it always has been. The mind is very powerful!!

Whatever you do don't turn on the TV, every other commercial is about food and by the time your show comes back on, your hungry for single food item they advertised. One night I found myself hungry for pizza, chocolate and Chinese all at once. My friend made me take a pregnancy test. :)

Yeah. It's weird because I can't eat anything. I try things take a few bites and I'm done. Even if I think they taste ok. When are your having your surgery?

I am 4 days post op as well. Yes parts of the day is hard - but I have to say the sugar free popsicles are a god send. Really - this will pass. Tuesday will come and you will have a better selection and feel good you passed this test - have a great night!

I'm two weeks post op and I desperately want to bite into a piece of chicken. As bad as I want to I know it won't say down. I know this because I've tried two noodle from a can of chicken noodle Soup, mash potatoes and cheddar broccoli soup and they won't stay down. So I've given up on that yummy chicken until I can handle it. It'll come I keep saying to myself.

I SUGGEST you type COMPLICATIONS in to the search box & read real life accounts of people's misery & near death experiences. People can get a leak in the staple areas without eating in the first 3 weeks. Your head seems to be telling you to ignore the chances of a leak for some momentary satisfaction.

When I had my surgery I was on a 3 week post liquid diet. All food had to be dripping off the spoon, then I went to purred food.

The sugar free popscycles r a good idea. Jello, sugar free pudding doesn't drip off the spoon but it is real soft.

A lot of us don't enjoy the shakes but you are only drinking what? 4 oz at a time? And you are going to loose a lot of weight this month if you comply. Then again if you eat something that causes a leak YOU WILL LOOSE A TON OF WEIGHT CAUSE YOU WILL BE VERY SICK FOR ABOUT 2 months, more if you are unlucky. You will be away from your child for weeks as you are struggling in the hospital to live. Just read the complication stories.

If I sound harsh & mean to you it is because I care, yes you are a stranger but you are a fellow large person who wants a better life. Follow the rules, I am ecstatic with the results I am getting, you will be too.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
