Cindy I'm in Houston too. Where are you having surgery? Also let me know if you get in the group, I'm trying to get it too.

I'm having the surgery at Humble Surgical Center off 1960. I will let you know for sure. Who is your doc?

My surgery is scheduled for May 28th. i have always been bigger than most' date=' my highest weight was 280, I would like to get down to 170-165. My mother is supportive, but my daughters father, and older sister feel I am taking the easy way out. I have not been in the 100's since grade school. So Im looking forward to this new change. I am so grateful to have found a forum that is supportive.[/quote']

It's far from the easy way out, it's more like the ultimate commitment you can make to yourself and your loved ones.

I'm scheduled for May 23rd. My starting weight was 303. I'm only down a few lbs. I fluctuate between wanting to get used to eating exactly what I should at post-op and thinking 'I'll never be able to eat this again' and eating things I shouldn't.

I start full liquids next Friday. Still checking out all the Protein drinks. So far my favorite are the Visalus shakes available online. They taste like cake batter. I'm really not into sweet things, so I'm also looking for something tasteless I can mix into Soup.

Getting nervous occasionally. Worried about not waking up. But I'm excited too. I really appreciate all the posts here. Good information

Beth I tried to send you a message on FB and it said that since we aren't friends, it will go to your "other" folder. LOL. I don't know what the "other" folder is, but I hope you can find me and add me to the page. My surgery is 5-20-13. My name is Terri Tyrer and you should be able to find me if my message didn't show up. Thanks!

I'm Jan (browniejan) and I just got scheduled for May 16th. I also am so excited. My insurance approved me after sleep study, psyche consult and testing, and my cardiologist approval. I had already done a year of supervised weight management through my employer and it was excepted. I started gaining weight about 17 years ago when I weighed a nice 123, but had a complete hysterectomy. Last year I was at 235. Now I'm at 214, with 38.5 BMI. I have high cholosterol, Mitral Valve Prolapse with an irregular hearbeat. Some mild Coronary Artey Disease, and sleep apnea. I am also 63 years old. I am not anxious at all. My daughter had sleeve 4 years ago so i have 1st hand knowledge of what to expect, even though I may not have same journey as she did. She lost half her body weight during the first 2 years and 325/160 and has done an amazing job keeping it off. I have been on extra Protein for ot ona month and just ordered a supply for after the surgery. Glad I've found someone going at the same time. I entered info about my surgery date but it's not showing on upcoming surgeries list. Good luck and if you want to chat, just holler.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
