Hello! I understand being nervous for sure! Flabby skin is something we all worry about and is certainly a possibility. With you being younger you do have a better chance of there not being too much if at all but everybody's body is different. I haven't ha the surgery yet either so others might be able to give more perspective.

Good luck with everything!! Maybe we will get to go through the journey together as I am looking into it all (again) now.

The younger you are the better the skin recovery is. I am 36 and the only problem I have with skin is on my tummy....I had 3 kids and they stretched my belly all out. Make sure to drink lots of Water, as this helps moisturize your skin...and helps with elasticity. I am currently trying to come up with the money for a Tummy Tuck, but everything else looks great to me. I wish I would have gotten this sooner...that is my only regret. Good luck!

A lot of it has to do with your age and genetics. It also depends on how long you were overweight. A friend of mine was about 130 pounds overweight for the last 15 years so she will probably have a little more loose skin than me (I've been about 75 pounds overweight for the last 6-7 years). She's also 43 and I'm 36 so she keeps saying I really shouldn't have too big of an issue with loose skin, but there's really no way to be certain. Make sure you are working out to tone your muscles and remember it can take up to 2 years for your skin to firm up and catch up with your weight loss!

I am also very neverous; but the more I read on here I am slowly starting to be ok. I have my pre-op on 3 April. Then I will find my surgery date. I actually had to go on the liquid diet already because I am not losing the weight he wants me to before the surgery. My doctor informed me that being young; I'm 29; is actually before for loose skin! :) If you ever want to chat just pm me! :)

I'm 36 & had 2 c sections. I'm screwed on the skin. (Scheduling my closet trunkplasty for May!) I have a friend who was a little bigger than you, zero children, & she looks fantastic. NO skin. None. Did I mention, I hate her? Lol. Your age is certainly in your favor, your skin has lots of elasticity still. Good luck sweets.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
