Really strange. I looked down at my hand and there is a quarter size swollen spot right where my IV went into my hand. It doesn't hurt and really isn't discolored. This common?

That happened to me in the hospital. My whine arm got huge. Called the nurse in right away & they had to take it out & out it on the other side. What happened was it became infiltrated. ( fluid backup). Tell the nurse right away....

I re-read your post & it seems like the IV is out & you might be home. In that case, just ice it until swelling goes down....

You can rotate hot and cold packs on the site if it is still bothering you. It will more than likely clear up on its own but if it gets worse you can always call the doc and tell him what happened.
