So I have now lost 36lbs since my pre-op diet and 23lbs since day of surgery and I'm 10 days post op.

Well I tried on a pair of my "tight jeans"..and they were still tight!! I became so frustrated. Also frustrated that all I have eaten in 2 weeks is broth and sf Popsicles. Even thicker Soups hurt my stomach. I just want to fast forward 6 months I'm so tired of feeling like this! Please tell me it gets better. No to mention my family has been saying "wow I can really tell you've lost in your chest" boobs were the first to go ;((

Sorry for the vent, at least y'all may understand.

Just remember you have alot of Fluid and gas from the surgery. It takes a bit to get Rid of that. I know it is hard, try to be patient and give your body time to get through the shock. The weight will come of as long as your following your rules. Welcome to the losers bench! :)

You are being really impatient and hard on yourself! You are doing fantastic and before the surgery you would have had to move a mountain to get that much weight off so quickly! LOL Truthfully, you are doing excellent......Now's the time to sit back and watch the lbs melt away and the inches disappear when your in a stall.....Take pics to document your journey......Don't weight yourself every day... Our weight fluctuates on a daily basis..... You've got this girl! Sending you happy thoughts your way! :)

I feel the same way as you. The scale tells me I've lost all this weight so far but pants still fit the same. My gut has not budged, maybe because of all the swelling and gas we still have. We should give it a couple more weeks and I bet those pants will fit great!

i am 2 months post op and we have almost lost the same amount of weight post op (im down 27 lbs). It will happen! You didnt gain the weight over night and its going to take sometime for it to disappear as well! As far as the eating is concerned it gets better. Each day will be easier then the last day.

Give yourself a couple more weeks before your go trying on your tighter clothes. Some people have a lot more swelling than others. Just give your body a chance to heal. You'll have plenty of happy moments with your clothes:)

You are still swollen from surgery. The weight loss you will notice immediately on the scale, but the way your clothes fit takes a few weeks. It will get better.

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!!! If my mom mentions my shrinking boobs ONE more time............. :)

I am 10 weeks out and it does get better!!!! Just keep reminding yourself that, in the end, it will all be worth it. That is how I got through the torture of those 2-3 weeks immediately following surgery. Hang tough!

You are doing great! Those first weeks, with the clears and fatigue are very tough. You have lost a lot of Water, but then had IV fluids, then no fluids, then only fluids - your body is completely confused! You may have a stall when you switch from liquids to solids, but the things kind of adjust. I have way more changes in my clothing than the scale would indicate. Yesterday I tried on 5 outfits looking for something that fit. I had been so looking forward to wearing a particular skirt, felt like I was finally there, put it on and it almost fell off - at least 4 inches to big in the waist. Both sad and ecstatic at the same time. You are going to put your tight jeans on very soon and find that you need a new smaller pair of tight jeans! So wonderful!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
