Hello!

The meeting is next Wednesday at 6:00 for post ops only. There is no topic. In February there will be a doctor who does reconstructive surgery and in March there will be a makeover photo shoot. I have no idea what that really will be.

Hi Carol from Il. I think you may have posted on the wrong board. This is Delaware. Since I was self pay as well, I can tell you that there is no deal to be had by getting your surgery here in Delaware.

Inhis - I have the realize band as well. I asked for it because it is newer, it has a cool website and I thought the inner tube like construction would fit better. I haven't heard anything about a recall. I doubt there will be one as they test this stuff pretty extensively.

Hey there Delaware!

Is there a link to support groups dates and times? I have the dates from CHRIAS but I know there are others out there.... Thanks for any info.

Hi AJ:

Which hospital did you have your surgery at? There are support groups supported by Christiana and St. Francis. St. Francis is right next to the doctor's office. They allow anyone to come to their support group meetings. They have both pre and post op meetings.

Christiana has meetings as well. Their meetings are up on Rt 58 where much of their pre-op work is done. Their meetings are open to all, but if you did not have your surgery done at Christiana they charge you $5 to get in.

If you page back through this forum, you will see where I posted some other support group information. If you cannot find it, I can look through my paperwork and see if I still have it.

It's been a while since I have been here. How is everybody? There are many that I saw or posted to here than I no longer see. I miss you all!

Anyone up for trying a group walk? That was fun! I am still pretty out of shape because exercise has not been a priority. (I'm a bad example for you pre-ops!)

Well, that's enough for now. Hopefully, we can perk this board back up.

:redface:Hi guys! I feel like such a slug. I have been missing from the treads for a while now. I guess life happened. Loose some wight and get a life. Its great. I am trying to take some time now and re-evaluate my weight loss. I really need to re-dedicate myself. I feel that I have done really well until recently. So I need to get some support from my Lap Band friends and start on my journey again. How are you all doing? I have not had a fill in about 8 months. I am scheduled in a month. I want to take this next 4 weeks to get geared up and prepare myself. any suggestions. I really need to break this nasty chocolate addiction again too...

First of all.........congrats on your success . I'm encouraged, you have lost over a 100lbs in a year. I'm still in Bandster Hell with no restriction. And I so know your situation regarding nasty chocolate addiction. I have a fill scheduled for Friday, so I'm really hoping for the sweet spot.

Good Luck on your jump start.

Hey ya'll! got 1/2cc fill on friday and have great restriction. Forgot how to eat like a bandster its been so long. Before this last fill I was eating way more than a cup. Now I feel like I have so much more control again. This goes to show that I have a food addiction and need help with my Portion Control. Its hard to make good food choices daily. But I want to loose more. I know what I need to do. I just have to stay motivated. (easier said than done!) How are you all doing? Seems like Dr Wynn's office is busier than ever.

Hi all. I'm trying to start a private Facebook page just for Bandsters. This way we are all local and we can communicate easily and maybe even work out or have face to face group meetings. The Facebook page is private so people will not know about your band if you don't want them to.

My email is Msyvonne1970@aol.com, Yvonne Brockington on Facebook. You should be able to find me that way and we can all connect.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
